Question Pics Please: Chrome Mirrors on Silhouette AU's?

I am after a new mirror, but curious as to what the Chrome mirrors look like on Silhouette AU's (or BA's i spose)

Anyone out there running them?

Yeah i think that you need chrome rims to pull off the chrome mirrors. It just looks more complete, thats why BOSS290's car looked so good.

Stuck them on my old AU1 S (RIP):

They do look really good, having chrome highlights all around make a big difference too (I was going to).

I reckon with chrome mesh in the grille and lower intakes of the front bar, it would look very pretty with chrome mirrors.

Thanks Dauphin, gives me a bit of an idea what it'd look like.. I am not sure what kind of mesh to get in the grill and lower intake, what i have in there now is a what the old owner put in and is kind of heaps of small circles, any ideas where to get some mesh that isn't the usual supercrap stuff?

I am still undecided AUXR8220, other then the front my car is just so black, as there is no badges, boot garninsh etc So looking at a chrome boot garnish and perhaps some custom badges to break things up a bit

So I've decided till I get the other chrome bits and pieces i will stay with the colour coded mirrors, which brongs me to my next problem, I can either get a mirror from FTG Delivered for $85, or get one of these, but in the ad it states it wont fit cars with climate control? wtf?

Ok... so the dude on ebay said they wont fit cars with climate control because "the climate control vehicles have an ambient temperature sensor in the mirror which the aftermarket do not have"

Does it mean it wont fit the loom? or that just 1 sensor wont work??

That only applies to BA onwards, from memory the ambient temp sensor on an AU is actually in the front airdam. I'd say he is telling you they wouldnt work because the covers may affect the sensor's ability to get a correct reading.

noice, exactly what I wanted to hear, i was either going to "live without" the sensor on that side, or make the bloody thing fit. Seems I have to do neither, which is better!

Still trying to decide on mirrors from ebay, some of them look very different to what we have on AU's like
this for example, they look nothing like my AU mirrors to me! thus why i am looking at something like this, at least it looks like an AU mirror?!

Anyone recommend anyone on ebay to buy mirrors from? I have hit up ftg and it was nearly $100 delivered for the same reproduction mirror.

I know that these ones are very popular, but there are full replacements like these

Not sure how the cheaper "full mirrors" are for quality long term, this is whats worried me and as I need a replacement i have decided to stay with normal mirrors for now

EDIT: Still not sure if they are the type that will fit GHIA's, still awaiting replies on my above posts..

cam id be even just asking ford spares about the clip covers for fairlane/ltd, when i had the BF limo one got damaged was $88 for a chrome cover from ford genuine! that way you get to keep your genuine mirror as well not some chinese rip job.

That would be perfect except the wind blew the gate closed at my old house and cleaned the mirror up, and the money wanted by ford is crazy. It seems no one will sell me a factory 2nd hand mirror, they all off "non genuine" after market items.. So looks like ebay has to be the go..

So Ryan, when we goin out to hunt some lions ;)
