Default Latest news on XCal1

JUST TO CLARIFY EVERYTHING!

For all of those out there questioning the life-span of the XCal1, this is the news you’ve been more than waiting for!

In previous forum entries, we have noted that what we need is if you have a tune shop that you use, get them to contact Rob or Chris Herrod on +61 3 9464 5100 or email support@sctflashtuning.com so as we can collect of all the information we need as these tuners need to be registered with the Herrod/SCT as of now…

Now, this is the part that should make EVERYONE out there happy.

So long as these tune shops contact us ASAP on the details above, those who do will be able to update the XCal1 for as long as they have customers needing updates... This being said, all new tune sales from here on will need to be done on the X3, as again, components are no longer available to repair the XCal1 or add future years to them.

This I’m sure will put EVERYONE at ease now and prove that there is nothing to be concerned about.

Trading is as normal for your chosen tune-shop and others alike!

Cheers,

The Team @ Herrod Motorsport & SCT

Rob you and the team there at Herrod have done an outstanding job here for all Ford enthusiasts. All of us with XCAL1 boxes truly appreciate what you have done.

Also Charlie@SCT thanks for the rethink, I'm sure that this move will only go to show SCT's commitment to Australia.

Sounds like a very good outcome for all concerned, well done to all involved, now all of us with Xcal1 boxes can rest easy knowing we can still tune our cars using this system which I and everyone else are very happy to use.

Great news! A fair outcome for all involved. Its great to see both Herrod and SCT listening to their customers concerns and actively doing something about it.

How is it that when the other 20 billion threads on this were opened there was posts being made every 10 seconds with people ranting and raving and carrying on yet now that a solution has been made, one that many here were calling for, no one seems to bother posting.

Pretty disgraceful if you ask me and it makes me question the motives of some members here, if all you are here for is a sook and a moan then this is not the place for you.

Sad.

Well said.. its like the complaints about Ford products and marketing, but nobody wants to praise a "win".. but when things "appear" bad people line up 10 deep to throw the boots in.
Well done to all involved with sorting out a solution, its amazing what happens when calmness prevails and people sit back and think things through logically, it also serves to remind people no to be too hasty to throw rocks.

It's an unfortunate but familiar phenomena regarding consumers. Working in a service-based retail job, it is said that for every negative experience, a customer will tell several people, who in turn tell a few more hence a significant magnification of negative feedback from ONE bad experience). However for every positive experience, a consumer is lucky to tell one person about this, so it's nothing unusual for the praise and positive comments to flow in very slowly if at all. So to all us consumers out there, pay some credit where its due, tell people when they give good service, offer a small tip where appropriate etc. It's little surprise that so many businesses out there have such dreary unpleasant staff, considering all that they hear is negative criticism, but rarely if ever are shown any praise for their efforts

Ease up their tiger, it's only been about 40 minutes and alot of people are at work, I'm sure most will at some point make a comment of sorts.

To Rob and Charlie, this was a well executed fear campaign haha : , tell everyone that there units will be made inoperable to ensure you get all the tuners registering there dongles. My hat goes off to you getleman.

I still think that an upgrade trade should be offered though as there will be some users that will want to go down this path, $100 really wouldn't cut it though. Having a decent trade up offer may just get you the sales of the X3 you're looking to get, but also extending any such offer with each unit upgrade would further help with any future sales of upgraded units. If you need any marketing advice, I'm around here most days :

What controversy??

It's a simple suggestion regarding potential sales of the X3 units, no malice intended nor implied, all I'm saying is that people may be more inclined to buy the new units.

I would say there are still a lot of people who have 'dirty' boxes who are worried what will happen to them first time they take them to a newly approved Dealer/ Tuner! Seems tey wee the ones who were banging the drum the loudest!

I think this is great news for those with existing xcal1 boxes. This should put some issues to rest.

Hopefully this has restored some faith back as I believe the SCT product is an excellent product out there.

At least they have listened, and thankyou. This shows us that you wanted to fix the problem, but without hurting the customer, which is us. This goes a long towards customers rethinking what there next tuning step will be.
It also shows that you arent declaring that everyone needs to go and buy the new box , ie: profiteering.
Thanks for listening to the Australian people who use your product, now if only Ford would listen to us . lol.

I've read most of the posts on the closed threads with those posting thumping their chests and foaming at the mouth, regurgitating their point over and over again and then reading this thread to see that hardly anyone has posted here. Thank goodness there is someone in Australia now that SCT trust. Should put a lot of those people at ease now and a sigh of relief for the honest workshops out there.

This is a good outcome.

I just have one question which I'm not sure on. Are the X1's only retunable at the original place they were first tuned at? So in Brisbane, if only one tune shop reregisters with SCT/Herrod is that the one we have to go to? Or does this mean, if the one we originally went to for the tune didn't register with SCT/Herrod we require an upgrade to the X3?

Any tuner that registers with Herrod/SCT will be able to tune any X1 box as I read it.

Ok, it's just not how I was reading it. Hopefully its not the case because we don't want to go back to the "old" tuner. So even if they do register, hopefully another one that is registered is still able to change the tune.

Yep, if only one tuner in Brisbane registers then they will be the only ones able to retune the units, that's why you would need to push your tuner to register.

Really it would be in their best interest also as they have no doubt sold/installed/tuned quite a number of cars and if they want to keep those customers coming back then they would need to ensure there longevity with relation to their ability to tune the X1.

@Russell,

It's most liekly a case, where to get our point across mass posting was deemed nessacary by many owners.

Now that everything is back to some semblence of normal, everyone can relax job done.

That, or everyone is hitting up their tuner to ensure they register with Herrod/SCT.

Tuggers beating their chests didn't get this outcome, Sane input from sound heads did.

It is good to see that the X1 will supply to its owners exactly what they were promised.

Rob/Charlie, at what point will you be introducing the new Touch Screen Xtreme / Livewire products? The XC1, XC2 and XC3 are old technology, we should not be encouraged to buy anything but the newest technology.

Thank goodness cooler heads have prevailed. All the ranting was justified, SCT should have just done this in the first place and we need never have known about it and their reputation would be a lot better for it.

As it stands, I will happily use my Xcal1 until it dies, as is my right upon purchase, but if it dies I will be looking long and hard at other options.

russell : I for one have been out working my **** off to try and get the cash together to do my mods, this is WHY I havn't been posting, I assume many others are in the same boat.

Herrod and SCT this is the most brilliant news I have heard all year, thankyou for allowing us to continue with xcal1 everybody concerned (me especially) is very very happy I praise you for having the guts to come to this decision. I imagine it would have been a most difficult one to make. : : : : : :

Well done to those who contributed to this sensible outcome!

I am sure that the 'feedback' provided to SCT helped, but most importantly from Herrods who from evidence so far, managed a difficult situation skillfully.

Thanks

Phil

PS My X1 tuner / flashbox provider was KPM (Site sponsor), so will prompt them to contact Herrods!
