Hi guys.
Just need some help/advice. I think i need to adjust my clutch cable as now to change gears i need to push the clutch completely to the ground. But even when i do the gear stick still wont always change and gets stuck. Since i bought the car the clutch has always engaged really early when i release it but its worse now. I literally have to squeeze as hard as i can just to change. It was never that bad. When i first start driving its not too bad but the longer i drive and use the clutch it gets harder. I believe this is because the cable heats up slightly as i use it and stretches just enough to make it worse. And on hot days its worse as well. So is it possible to adjust the clutch cable so i dont have to push it completely to the ground to disengage and change gears? Is it easy to do? Can anyone tell me how to? or do i need a mechanic to do it? Or could it possibly be something else? Thanks guys! |

No mechanic needed, an easy job to do yourself.
1. Open the bonnet and look at where the clutch cables comes through the firewall. There will be two hex nuts there. One locks on the other. 2. Loosen them largest and screw towards the front of the car, say until you see another 4 threads on the cable. 3. That should bring the clutch engagement point back up off the floor a bit. 4. If that makes it worse, then you need to wind the nuts in the other direction. 5. When you get it where you want it, relock the nuts. 6. DRIVE! LOL! Hope that helps. All the best with it, GK

What GK said, but if that doesn't last long, it may be the old cracked firewall issue that has affected every falcon since the XL (or whatever was first)!

Let's hope that it's only an adjustment issue. GK
