Default AU3 won't start, central locking won't work

After changing batteries, starter won't engage and noticed central locking isn't working, either by key or by button on dash.
Battery is fully charged (tried 2) and ignition lights all come on but on "start", nothing happens except the smartshield "red hand" starts flashing.
Checked the under dash and under bonnet fuses and all seem OK (damn).
Tried selector both in Neutral and Park, and still nothing.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? ....Please!......???

Thanks in advance, Keith.

Could be the BCM under the dash. It is located on the left side of the column under the dash. The connections may be loose? or, you might be up for a new one :(

Power surge maybe ? try disconnecting the batter again for 5 min. and turn lights on to drain all the power out, then reconnect it, If it's still no good it looks like a trip to Ford for a scan tool read out

Have you checked your battery terminals to make sure they're clean and tight. The posts will be clean cos it's a new battery but if the inner surface of the terminals are dirty it could cause resistance where there's enough power getting through to run the dash but as soon as you put any load on the battery by trying to start it or draw power it shorts out.

Default Thasnks guys

Thanks all, looks like PapaSmurf was right

Replaced my light blue BEM with the pink one I have here and door locks would operate from the dash button but still no go.

At least I think I've now isolated the problem to dodgy BEM.

Might pull the light blue one out of my project ute and see if I can get it to start the car.

Before I do though, I'd like to know if it will need to be retrained to suit my car or not.

Thanks for all your help guys, MUCH APPRECIATED

Keith

No good just plugging in any old BEM - it has to be "matched" to your car or the smartlock won't allow the ignition on.
