Hey guys, don't know if anyone has noticed this yet, but last night after my nightshift work I stopped in at a shell servo, and saw something pretty cool..a stand with novelty collectable FORD number plates, with 6 in the series to collect!! of course I grabbed the XB one straight away, but they're only 4.95 each so i grabbed the whole set, the cashier said they have just started this promotion showcasing the best Fords of all time! and just got the stock in. Im pretty sure its exclusive to all coles express stores around the country.
Theres a '65 XP falcon, a '67 XR GT falcon, a '69 XW GT falcon (*note the picture is wrong, its actually a XY) a '72 XA GT falcon, a '73 XB GT falcon, and a '78 XC Cobra. They have info stats and brief history written on the back of the plates and suction caps to mount to a window etc. Probably the best promotion i have seen from a servo! better than the HSV special vehicles keychain collectables they were doing a while ago! lol

Sounds cool.
How big are these plates? Normal number plate size?

Ok, this might be a stupid question, but what is with the XY GT number plate? It says 69 not 71, and it says GT not XY...
Am I confused? not awake properly? or missing something? |

It has a picture of a XY and it says 1969 XW GT LOL, the others say XP, XA, XB and Cobra. I think people will notice this more when they buy it because I missed it in your original post |

Well lets hope they make the trip across to WA - if so, a space is awaiting on the garage wall, thanks for the tip off.

I just went to the shell at Ultimo, they had them so I picked up 1 each, although they didn't have the xr gt...
Anyway, can someone tell me why there is a picture of a XY GT and it says 69, 1969 XW GT? Is this a joke? Or a real stuff up by Ford Marketing? |

I didn't see them yesterday at my local when I filled up. This is most definitely awesome though, I shall be getting two sets I think!
I love the little promos Shell do, the last two sets of Ferrari's they had I grabbed, the first set I got two of so when I finally get a proper display case I can have one set open without the packaging, and the unopened set behind them. The second set I only got one set of though :(
