Au 5L running rich

I have a AU2 5L fairlane on duel fuel. i had a problem with the converter so have started running on petrol full time. i am getting 22-24L per100klms and she has a lot of black comming out of the tail pipe. so she is running real rich. i wont be getting the gas fixed for a month or so.

not being up on the tuneing of late model motors what can i do?

Fuel regulator could be bung. O2 sensors could be stuffed. I don't know what else could be causing such things, but others here will post on it soon I'd expect.

With regards to the O2 sensors, how many kays has the car done? If up near 100,000, I'd change them anyway. It's an easy job and ebay has good deals on the sensors.

A mate had a BA Ghia running rich, not as rich as yours though. His problem was the fuel regulator. He finally changed it and the economy increased greatly.

Your problem might be a number of things combined.
