Exclamation Where The Bloody Hell Are You ? Lara Bingles Aston Martin Stolen

LARA Bingle's $250,000 Aston Martin - a James Bond-style super sports car - has been stolen from her apartment block in what appears to be a targeted attack.

The dark blue 2008 Vantage Coupe disappeared from a secure carpark at the base of the couple's luxurious apartment block in Bondi, Sydney.

The luxury vehicle was bought for the model by her partner, cricketer Michael Clarke.

Police confirmed they are investigating the incident, which they believe happened yesterday.

Ms Bingle could not be reached for comment but she wrote on social networking site Twitter: "Aston GONE . . . KARMA."

"What a way to start a year . . . I want it back."

The 22-year-old model had been in Melbourne supporting Clarke, who was playing for Australia in the first Test against Pakistan at the MCG.

However, she is believed to have returned to Sydney alone some time yesterday and was inside their home when the sportscar was stolen from the Campbell Pde complex.

Neighbours have reported that other car spaces were also broken into as the thieves searched for the car.

A source close to Ms Bingle, who declined to be named, said she was "shocked" and "frightened" over the incident.

"She can't believe it - she's really upset," the source said. "Michael is not here and she's quite frightened."

Clarke was said to be making plans to return from Melbourne last night to be by his fiancee's side following the end of the first Test.

Spokesmen for the couple refused to comment.

Police would not reveal if they had any leads into the theft but are believed to be reviewing CCTV footage.

Ms Bingle was given the luxurious vehicle as an early Christmas present in December last year.

At the time she admitted the car was hard to handle.

"I am not the best driver," she said. "It's kind of difficult to drive. It's a heavy car."

The V8, a distinguished Eastern Suburbs feature, made Bingle an instant and easy paparazzi target.

To me, its an inside job..

Hope it was insured. What would the excess be on a $250K car with a 22 year old female driver?

Would anyone be stupid enough to insure such a car / driver combination?

I don't think you read the rhetoric correctly.

Also
those secure carparks are notoriously unsecure it seems.

Correct. You can see for your self from the comment's she has made with respect to how over the top the car is for her to drive and deal with.

"I am not the best driver," she said. "It's kind of difficult to drive. It's a heavy car."

Buy her a 15,000 dollar yaris and be done with it. Save the Aston for the weekend.

While I have no real interest in the people involved in this story, the comment above did remind me of a friend's story of auto theft also from a "secure carpark" - complete with unlocked gate, and video cameras that were not only turned off, but also lacked any recording feature! Fortunately, his car was found after he offered a $1000 reward for info (and as he still states, he's not sure if the dero who claimed the cash was not a mate of the thief anyway), but sentimental attachment to the car was enough to motivate him (and I have to admit, $100 of that reward money came from my pocket too).

Excessive much. I don't care who you are, a 22yr old in a $250,000 Aston is just over the top. Does she even have driving experience. Girls like her usually get driven everywhere by others.

gee If I was Michael Clarke and my missus was Lara Bingle I'd buy her an Aston Martin...I just bought my wife a Mitsubishi Lancer, I earn a little less than Clarke...YES Outback I would be happy for Lara Bingle to have both the left and right.

If I had a GF like Lara Bingle, I wouldn't leave the bedroom! So she wouldn't need an Aston Martin

I smell a rat.

She has either left the keys in it... or left the keys somewhere.

It is virtually impossible for someone to steal a car with the amount of security that car must have.

But she isn't to bright either so probably has forgotten where she left it. :togo:

here is a photo of her getting out of it in Double Bay, she has high heal shoes on imagine trying to drive that with those on.

Quote:
IT'S the question cricketer Michael Clarke and luxury carmaker Aston Martin are asking: how was Lara Bingle's $250,000 engagement present stolen from the security garage at her exclusive Bondi apartment?

The luxury car survived the ordeal with just minor damages.

More details on the car's recovery to come.

Police interviewed the couple yesterday after her 2008 model Aston Martin Vantage V8 disappeared from their $3.7 million fortress-like Campbell Pde home.

But Clarke does not believe his fiancee was targeted.

"I don't think they knew it was Lara's car so I think they'll be a little bit surprised. Fingers crossed I hope they find it," he said.

Makers of the handcrafted vehicle said it was the first time in the world an Aston Martin had been stolen without the thief having a set of keys.

"Aston Martin is very disappointed to hear of the loss of Lara Bingle's Aston Martin V8 Vantage," the statement said.

"All Aston Martins have the highest level of security built into them in order to deter unlawful entry to the vehicle and eliminate the ability of the vehicle being driven without the uniquely encrypted keys.

"Aston Martin is unaware of any of our vehicles having previously been stolen without the thief having a set of keys."

Detectives spent about half an hour in the three-bedroom apartment, after getting stuck in the foyer when the hi-tech security doors refused to open. Detectives yesterday confirmed that the car appeared to have been stolen between 11pm on December 29 and 5.30am the following morning.

There are several CCTV cameras in the building and on the garage but it is not clear whether the theft was recorded.

Forensic officers also dusted for fingerprints in the garage area as general duty officers door-knocked neighbours.

Officers said other vehicles in the garage had been broken into. Bingle was in her flat at the time of the theft.

Police declined to comment on whether the keys were with the Aston Martin at the time of the theft.

It has been confirmed the theft of Bingle's car has been placed on an international register of stolen Astons - there is no market for rebirthing because each part is engraved with ID markings.

The couple's neighbours yesterday declined to comment about the thefts but said security for the apartment block was the highest it could be.

"Put it this way, if you got into the lift and tried to get anywhere, you couldn't," one resident said.

Maybe this is the insurance side of me coming out but this whole thing is fishy.
1. It is pretty near impossible to steal an Aston without the keys or a tow truck.
2. Even though she has cc TV in her garage, there is no cc footage of it being stolen?
3. It was not discovered immediately????

My guess is Lara has had too much to drink, had a small Bingle (pun intended) and then reported it stolen the following day or two.

If I was a bookie, I think that the odds would be pretty good of this being something close to what happened.

I’m not knocking the tall poppy’s here, I just wonder why this ‘so called’ news story has the exposure that it has.

Personally, I couldn’t give a flying ***k about some bimbo who forgets where she left her car, of if she’s left her keys in it.

Full Noise’s crystal ball prediction is the investigation will ‘most likely’ find no evidence of the ignition being tampered with. Silly people forget that error codes and hi-tech ignition systems can make liars out of people.

One difference though - The theft of Joe Average's Falcon is not a big enough story to make the news headlines. I actually think it's pathetic that some journalist seems to think the theft of her car makes a good news story...Most of us couldn't care less....Who cares what she drives and whether it's been nicked. Surely none of us are that naive to think that a person with her status would be driving a Camry !!

I doubt whether it would be her pride and joy....The Aston would simply be her daily driver used to commute between Eastern Suburbs cafes
