Can anyone tell me if the cam from an AU series 1 is compatible with a Series 2 motor and head?

thanks dude, I have a spare Series 1 cam I want to get reground. Plus I have a fully reconditioned AU head I want to get some work done. Just wanted to know if the cam is interchangeable and there are no little qwerky things that needed to be done to make it fit.

Ask the Monty lol he will know for sure
when you get a cam they don't ask what series.. The only difference I believe is that 1998 AUs had different shaped springs and need different retainers to fit an aftermarket spring the people grinding it can't tell you?

I havent asked. I was hoping I would know from here first.
The cam and head I got from my dad who had a series 1 AU futura. Id like to use it if I can. I hear AU1 heads flow better than AU2/3 heads too. Considering the head is off an AU1 and the cam is the same year as the head, I guess it doesnt matter as long as I use them both together at the same time.

I dont even know what model head is on my car, but sure its a series one. I was never asked by Surecam either. And Ive run my s3 cam, in the what ever head, and the big cam in the s3 head. I dont think there is a difference at all to be honest. And once there ported, who cares which one flowed more when stock, lol.

S1 flowed better because of cleaner castings when they were cast, as they got older the heads were cast more poorly over time

series 2 and 3 heads are better than series 1 ,they don't have the boss around the valve guide on the intake port and flow better stock.

Interesting stuff there FS5. Thanks for that bit of info. I was always under the impression the Series 1s flowed better than 2 or 3 as Cory mentioned. Do you have personal experience on this?

He does, as he has had both, and Im running his old ported head. He has done a few head swaps in his time, and has been in touch with headsense a bit when he got it ported, so Im sure he is correct.

Thanks for the confirmation The Monty. I wasnt doubting what he knew just wanted to know how much he knew.
Seems as though I may have to get the S1 head ported a bit more to come up to standard.

I think once on the bench, the flow between the two is very minmal, and with any sort of headwork, its going to be better than either one stock anyway.

Strange tho, every place I've spoken too has said s1 heads untouched get more power than s2-3 I spoke to Jim mock and 2 other high profile workshops about it before I got my cam done
but again not doubting just pointing out, it'd be good to know why, I can't think of any vested interest anyone could have with regards to this
