Reading issue 1377 Auto Action, sometimes referred to as Auto Fiction they talk about the next Ute from Ford.
Series organiser Craig Denyer said testing the FG will be a good opportunity for the FH which moves to a 5.0L V8 engine... "The change in the XR8 to the FH will see a new engine produced with all 16 Utes to use it in 2011" Series competitor Andrew Fischer is competing in an FG XR8 Ute at this weekends Bathurst 12hr is expecting a strong performance from the car. "It should be very competitive, it has good horsepower with 15-20% more than the BF." So, we will still have an XR8 (not XR50) & the next model will be FH? Interesting. See how true all this is in ~ 6mths.

Didn't realise my interpretation of FH would trigger the swear filter - let's try it one more time with more censoring:
FH - ************** Holden Unless 'Holden' was the word that triggered the swear filter :evil3:

i think the 5.0L s/c GT will be a serious contender for the 12 hour crown in years to come or the even faster version (im not saying the name) thats rumoured.

Not necessarily. At this point anyone talking about future product would still refer to it as an XR8. References to XR50 and for that matter GT-H have been speculation for many on upcoming models but in truth may not have much part to play in the roll out of the immediate product. XR50 is very likely a celebration model far more than a reference to displacement. It has been used as an example of Ford re inventing the XR8 brand but has been used more tongue in cheek. What this news does indicate is that there will be a continuation of a V8 Ute in the so called “entry level” that the XR8 supplies now.

So in the end if FPV is worried about tne no. of V8 units they can put through then they will go with a Ford priced/speced V8 car, probably with a Ford badge on it. SC or not the Coyote offers the capability for Ford to offer a 'new generation' V8....a perception of technology over cubes that has been used so effectively with the I6T (G6ET etc.). Whether it is FI, lower operating cost (yes G8E buyers will worry about fuel burn.....GT buyers won't), the smaller capacity etc. the coyote is very much the modern motor. The GM offering (and to a degree the current BOSS) is very much old school in set up....
