Hi all.
The auto in my XR8 is stuffed and needs a rebuild......Planetary gears are noisy as hell...... I've always preferred manuals......I can't afford a 6spd conversion....I was possibly thinking of the Tremec BA 5spd instead of the regular AU T5.....Is it a better box??? Does it bolt up the same???? I got a quote for an AU conversion kit with a reco AU T5.....Nearly 5k??? Parts only. Alternatively, I may just reco the auto and beef it up.....Any one recommend someone near Liverpool, NSW???? Thanks..... Doug.... |

BA XR8 Tremec 5 spd box wont bolt to a windsor block without modifying the bellhousing.
The gearbox itself is 100mm longer than a AU XR8 T5 gearbox. Cheapest way is to get a manual conversion, a mate sells them for well under 2k and will include everything including a manual ecu, all genuine ford XR8 parts. Ill see if he has a setup and ill let you know. |
