Why has BBQ fuel suddenly crept over the 64c mark all over Melbourne, not to mention the ripoff merchants selling it for 67c? : Lots of ppl having BBQ's leading up to easter or what. Any cent paid for gas is too much, its just a waste product. Having lots of fun looking out for servos that sell for less than 60c. :

not a waste product, a biproduct.. but yes i'm equally as frustrated. Was filling at 48 cents for ages, now i'm lucky to get it under 60, most of the time 65.

Rudd is holding back on tax reform submission, I bet one of the tax reforms is
the increased fuel excise on LPG to 38.5 cents/litre now that everyone ran out and converted their cars with government subsidy. ya get nuttin' for nuttin' |

why is there an excise on any fuel at all, the government has no contribution to the manufacture, distribution or sale of the product, yet taxes it heavily...

i agree, i guess i concede...my gripe then is with the ridiculous expenses the pollies get(funded by us!) they squander our money like it's free. if there was a better strategy in place to ensure the money was spent better, then i bet things like rego hikes, fuel taxes and the like might....just....dissapear...
agree on your post above though

Maybe the fuel companies now realise that with liquid LPG injection, LPG is now a performance fuel :

For those of you who care propane and butane are odourless. An odorant is added in the production phase so you know when you are about to go boom!

Only time it'll go boom is if it is poorly maintained. Been driving on LPG for just over 10 years now. Saved a bucket load of cash using it. I can remember when it cost less than $15 to fill up. Now, I'm pushing about $35 each fill which sees me through nearly 500kms.

Hi all
just reading the posts here for years as a kid I used to watch the flames coming out of the chimneys at the refinery now of course we all know its LPG thats just wasted back in 1988 I drove an EA cab and the fuel was 17cents per litre but if you happened to run out of fuel you rang the cab company and they would send out a BBQ bottle of LPG to get you going (all the correct fittings of course) also the government at the time sold a sh't load of LPG to China at 2 cents per litre and bragged in the paper about what a good deal they had swung with the Chinese so now we are now 20 0dd years later and paying anywhere from 62 to 68 cents per litre any way just whinging about prices My AU Fairmont with dual fuel goes great I love it I have had it since 2003 and and still is half the cost of petrol to run John |
