Default Is it a HSV or FPV?

If you always wanted a HSV but with FPV styling then you need to buy this super rare HSV GTS 5th Anniversary FG

http://cars2.ebay.com.au/HSV-GTS-5TH...ayphotohosting

What hope do we have?

What a knob, even says it is a 6.2L V8.

looks kind of wrong, although I have recommended to people I know to incorrectly advertise their car on carsales.com.au as a more popular model in order to increase exposure. That's mainly when selling something that people might be interested in but might not think to search for, such as v8 xt vs xr8 or that kind of thing. Important when doing that to clearly list the correct description though so as not to annoy people too much.
Not sure if that's what they're trying to achieve - get prospective hsv buyers to consider a gt???

i have a eb v8 for sale and someone did recommend i advertise it as a xr8 for better exposure. i haven't and probably won't. i have mentioned the term xr8 a couple of times in the ad as it does have xr8 parts so a search for xr8 will still come accross my car.

youre getting off on the wrong foot with many buyers, i for one would never buy a car off someone who falsely advertises a car. its just plain dishonest and a waste of peoples time

which is why I said you'd need to clearly identify the correct description in the ad. then it's not false advertising (as long as people can read) and it's absolutely not dishonest

anyway I still reckon anyone searching for an XR8 of that era would be more than happy to see your car in the list since it's better than most XR8s. young bloke at work over here reckons I should buy it off ya. told him not to tempt me...

What would you expect from a Toyota Dealer. They are confused on the whole Hybrid thing. No, Hybrid does not mean a HSV crossed with an FPV.

Oh FFS......

Why go on like a mob of school kid gamers on overclockers.com.au when they see a misprint in a Harvey Norman Catalog.

It may come to some as a shock but quite a number of the junior clerical staff at motor dealers (the ones who actually handle all the paperwork) are not performance car experts and sometimes have difficulty interpreting the chicken scratch that the salesmen give them to put in the listings assuming the car salesman actually knows the difference between a HSV and FPV (or even cares).

How many of you tell the difference between a Piper Arrow and Beech Sierra or a TE450 and CR450X or a Collingwood and St Kilda player........

Could be a very clever marketing trick, blamed solely on a typo.

They may not be as stupid as some people here think.

Well I just bid on a "XD" as I am building a bash car for next year. This XD looked like it had XF parts and even though it said XD and 1980 I rang to enquire.

It is a bloody 1987 XF so now I am the highest bidder on a car that is of no use to me whatsoever.....

Keep it for a few more years.

Or report the ad as dishonest.

Nah, I rang the guy. He seemed quite ok and told me he had someone else do the ad as he is not a computer person.

If I win I will buy it and just sell it or swap/trade it for a XD (or XC).

There is nothing worse than having to go through other models when I am searching for a particular model.
When I am searching for say an XA I am not searching for an XD or XF, I hate those ebay ads that say "May suit XY,XA,XB,XC buyer" when it is a EA.

It is just a waste of my time especially when you have to click on it to find out it is a EA

If works...people are talking about it.
Somebody will say, 'that car suits me', buy it, and life will go on.

Do you all throw the same ruckus when the supermarket advertises something on special, only to say, 'oh sorry, that was a misprint, you have to pay full price.'
