Default Cat 10 wiring into AU2.

hey guys.. wondering if anyone else has wired a cat 10 into their au (series 2)...

ive hooked up the red from the box to the red acc power, the black to the ground,

and as per info on the cat10 site,Brown to vehicle Red/Black trace and CAT10 Green to vehicle Orange/Black trace ..

has anyone else done the install, and are these directions correct? the two cables, that brown and green connected to were on the far right of the connection of the stock loom.. on top of each other..

is this right?

(i bought the unit second hand, so want to make sure theres not something im missing before being ****ed off).

and i plugged mine into the 3.5mm jack on the back of my clarion deck.

thanks.
leigh

Yeah, I hooked one up a while ago. I can't specifically remember where what goes but I'll still have the instructions down the shed. I'll have a look after dinner.

edit: even easier, all the info is here (install instructions down the bottom of the page http://www.thecat.net.au/cat10.htm )

Yeah I found the instructions down the shed and they are the same as the website. I'm positive that is the way I hooked mine up (AU3).

They do fail.

I had a CAT09 in mine first and it cacked two weeks before the 12 months warranty was up. No problems at JB's swapping it for a CAT10. (It must be over 12 months since I put the CAT10 in... so fingers crossed)

Hi. If its not working check that
1. the switching inside suits your car (2 types of steering wheel switches)
2. even if using direct connection plug in IR led and check for output using digital camera/phone camera etc ( I have seen a couple of faulty plugs on cat 10s and dont use those right angle plugs on any of my audio projects any more)
Cheers MD

ive jumped the cat 10 to suit AU series 2.. so i dunno why its not picking it up.. also it doesnt have the IR capabilities, as he must have lost/thrown out the other parts, so its direct connect only.

Where do you guys find the best spot to put the LED?

I've seen near the handbrake hanging off the console near the dome light. Will be giving the console/handbrake spot a go when I install mine.

Oh yeah, does 'Seek' still work - as in to change tracks to the next or can you only have volume up and down?

Originally I had mine in the map light surround (ghia) but the angle was too acute and quite often it wouldn't work.

Then I positioned it in the dome light surround and hadn't missed a beat (until it died, but no probs with CAT10).

Seek and vol up and down. Seek also works to change radio stations.

edit: actually I originally had it in the centre console about centre between the cup holders. PITA, everything got in the way so then up to map lights and finally dome light.
