Has anybody used the Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner in their AU? Does it work, or is it just a Subaru scam?
How much does this stuff cost???

Anyone who thinks their decade old motor's seals will like this abrasive stuff is kidding themselves.

Do a search of the forums (AU section as well as the entire forums). This topic has already been covered. If you can find the thread, you'll get plenty of opinions on this issue..... Cheers |

Yep i',m about to pull the top of my manifold off to clean the accumulated oil out of the lower half .... I only cleaned this 6 months ago .
Just to give you guys an idea how much blow by gets sucked back in to the intake making these product's necessary... I prefer WATER myself , misted in with a spray bottle but that opens a can of worms with people who dont understand the process.. Find a product that works for you and if people disagree with your results "Who cares"? You may just get some rep for sharing with others about your experiences.. Daz. |

I asked my head mechanic about using this in my XR6 au and he reckons it can cause more problems then it solves. It's only used on subaru's cause the boxer engine carbons up easily

Some dealerships use carby cleaner. I've done it to my own car with no issues, make sure you change the oil afterwards. It could help if you're pinging as it drops the comp a bit
