Default Ute exhaust system - whats it consist of?

Hey guys

I bought my XR6 ute with a modified exhaust which is way to loud, I am sick of it and it is also coming up to rego time and I know it will fail (it has before and only have a dodgy shop to thank for passing it).

I had a quick look under the car today to see what my options were for quitening her down and I couldn't quite work out what the previous owner has done to it. So I am just wondering what the Standard exhaust consists of, how many mufflers, silencers etc??

And if anyone could suggest some options for a quite system that would be pretty handy, by the looks of things it might have to be a system that goes from the extractors back.

Thanks for any help.

there is a cat a large muffler and a small muffler ( resonator) the exhaust is the same for all body types up to the tail pipe only the tailpipe is different for the ute

If the exhaust is of decent quality & condition, there's no need to change it all. You should be able to get a decent resonator spliced in the rear (I'm guessing it has no rear res as you've mentioned it's quite loud).

This should not be particularly costly to do.

+1 to getting a quieter exhaust with a resonator.. also while its in the shop, maybe make sure previous owner didnt bash the cats out..
