Angry $500,000 Ferrari stolen in Newcastle

$500,000 Ferrari stolen in Newcastle

From: AAP June 26, 2011 10:25PM

THIEVES made their getaway from a break and enter in style when they drove off with their loot in a $500,000 Ferrari stolen from a Newcastle home.

The 2010 black Ferrari California is believed to be one of only five in Australia.

The thieves broke into the home in beachside Merewether between 11pm (AEST) on Saturday and 1am on Sunday while the family of four was asleep, police said.

They also stole personal items including watches, laptop computers and a camera before driving off in the sports car.

Lets hope they find the Ferrari in one piece and the scumbags get caught. In Saudi, they would have a hand chopped off..

Well if you're going to risk going to jail for breaking the law might as well do it in a big way.
However the ferrari they stole is the worst looking ferrari ever built.
Probably Nathan tinklers i think he lives in merewether, with the way he flashes the money around he wouldn't miss it.

What makes anyone think they'll "go to jail" for breaking the law like that?

Hell, I remember a case a few years back here in central Queensland where a guy led police on a very long high speed pursuit, caused all sorts of mayhem, attacked police (breaking a police officers arm in the struggle), and still got off with a good behavior bond and no jail time...

Stealing a car? Phht...ain't no big thing, and no matter how expensive, if never punished in any real way.

"They shoot horse thieves around these parts, pilgrim..." (delivered in a Joh Wayne drawl... )

As long as he did not exceed the speed limit he has not commited any "important" crimes.......

I say it's one of two of the best looking Ferraris ever built. It is up there with the 458 but in a different way. Love the kinda retro thing it has.

it just doesn't look like a ferrari as soon as you look at it. The 1 i have seen just blended into traffic. If i spend half a million on a ferrari i want people to know its a ferrari. Its all relative though because it still looks better then any car i will probably own.

And this means what? Who cares what it looks like who whose car it is. How would you feel if your pride and joy was stolen.

Edit- just seen the story on the news, cant help but feel for him.

And for a car of that value there is no mention of any sort of tracking security installed?

I'm looking at a few on Ebay now.. $80-$140, pop in a sim and when you sms it it replies with it's co-ordinates to within 10 metres......

Perhaps there is more to this?

That was Nathan Tinkler's Ferrari. With an estimated self made $1.01Billion to his name at age 37 I doubt he'd be too worried about the car. More so that thieves got into the house whilst he and his family were sleeping.

I guess his next house which got DA approved about 2 weeks ago which will be worth $13m and have room for 9 cars will be more secure!

As for the scumbags. I hope some misfortune comes your way...

These items are all good, but all someone needs to do is buy a GPS jammer and a Mobile phone jammer, cost about $150 each and anything with mobile or GPS tracking becomes usless.

You just cant understand the thinking process can you, obviously its limited but if your going to steal a car atleast get one you can part out or sell easy enough. Really what were they ever going to do with it..

Sad to hear about the car.

Burnt out, ugh. Wonder what the robbers thought as they drove out in a rare Ferrari...

They will get caught surely. Some camera somewhere would have seen something. So sad.

Hopefully Nathan didn't have anything important on those computers....

Pretty sad, a nice car gone to complete waste.

Why do you hate Ferrari's though Kani? I mean sure only rich assholes drive them (usually into other things) but the cars look nice.

mate he can buy any car in the world. He doesn't need an insurance payout for a new car.
I think he would be more worried about how someone broke into his house with his kids there and didn't know. If i was a parent that's what i would be worried about not a car that can be replaced.

Really? So, just because he is worth over a billion $$ means he wouldn't care his $500,000 car getting stolen and burnt out....

When my free push bike got destroyed I was livid. It was a hard rubbish pick up, lol.

How can you burn out a Ferrari??? I couldn't even set fire to a VN.

Massive waste.

Some of the responses in here are just plain childish and arogant, it doesn't matter what vehicle it was that was "STOLEN" it doesn't matter how much the owner is worth or can afford, it doesn't matter if people don't find it appealing therefore he can buy something more appealing.
It was his own personal vehicle that was stolen, I'm sure no one here would want their own vehicle stolen only to be found burn't out, such a waste.

Someone must have an issue with the bloke. Perhaps it is someone that could have benefited in a major way if Nathan's company did not withdraw from the Newcastle city re-devolpment?

Like a couple of other people have said, he's probably more concerned about the fact that someone got into his house while he and his family slept rather then what they specifically took.

First thing that came to my head was Medowie forest and then I seen it was burnt near the pacific highway near Raymond Terrace. Pretty close. A good mate of mine use to live on a property out at Medowie and every week there is a fresh handful of burnt cars in the bush. Makes you scared to stay there incase someone likes your car more than you.

Did you see the pictures of it when it was found? It was totally burned to the ground. Whoever did it didn't want to leave any traces behind.
Its such a waste. And it doesn't matter how much the guy is worth. If some scum bag breaks into a house and steals your car and computers and stuff you would want him caught and punished. Hopefully they catch the theives.
