Default South Australian Govt to reduce speed limits & increase fines

Pretty funny considering that the study showed that over 90% of accidents were caused by inattention, I wonder what happens to people's attention span if they decrease limits further.....

doesn't surprise me. It's a huge grab for cash. Blatantly obvious.

And what Gov't coffer is going to reduce fines? None me thinks, so it's pointless.

Yes - We certainly should get together and do something about these a-hole greedy SOB`s which are the SA.Gov.

Their greed is now absolute. Several months ago they increased the fines for driving unregistered/uninsured. Just happened to coincide with the introduction of these new number plate recognition cameras AND the abolition of registration labels. The obvious intention being to fine the people who neglect to renew their rego. A-holes!!! Just makes it a bit easier to forget seeing there is no label to show the expiry date.

Couple of months ago they also introduced parking fees at public hospital carparks. Greedy a -holes!!

They are increasing fees for motorists in all areas they can - and dreaming up new ones.

There will hopefully come a time when we collectively say stuff you .gov. and actually do something about it.

So now they are going to drop speed limits on some main roads in the name of safety. What the hell is wrong with us for letting them get away with it.

Up U .gov

Rocket.

To be quite honest I've never been to a protest in my life. What would be needed to do such a thing (apart from people to support the cause of course)?

Well i guess it could be done the lame way - blocking the road outside parliament house and waving silly placards around, or if we had any brains we could simply park our cars on the lhs of all arterial 2 lane roads, lock them up and leave them there for a month or so. That would get the message across.

Problem is that as a community we are so apathetic and would struggle to gain enough participants to make it happen.

We could also disable all their bloody cameras. LOL! Paintball anyone? ( joke )

Disabling a traffic camera with a paintball gun could get someone into a lot of trouble because (a) the government would sook about lost revenue, and (b) a paintball gun is considered a firearm more or less, and so would have been discharged in a public place. If someone felt compelled to disable a traffic camera, which would of course be very wrong, then at least they would do best to use an egg instead since this would not attract a firearms charge. Although of course the correct course of action would be to keep giving $$$ to govco and eat the egg and play skirmish with the paintball gun.

I personally got hooked because the rego had expired on one of my cars, as a result of these cameras. ($800 or so) Yes, the fine hurt, but it's my fault, so I copped it on the chin. No point b1tching about it.

Another little issue about no rego labels. I work in the motor industry, which requires me driving someone elses car. Because there is no rego labels on cars, we have to get the customer to sign a piece of paper, allowing us to drive them. If we don't and the cars unregistered, we cop the fine .

So yes a PITA for everyone concerned, but even if you throw the tossers out of office as a result, the next lot isn't going to reverse the decision. (ie tax).
So we've just got to live with it

I know 2 victims of this inattention over the last couple of weeks -

1) Car waiting to turn right off a main rd into a side street. Slammed up the rear by a p plater who was busy talking on his mobile phone.

2) Car waiting to turn right off a main rd into a side street slammed up the rear by a woman who claimed to have not seen the car waiting to turn.

Interesting that both crashes involved cars waiting to turning right off a main rd. Personally, wherever possible i always go a bit further up the road and turn where it is a bit safer. ie a traffic turn in, intersection, clear traffic area etc.

But back to the a-hole.gov - there must be other ways to protest legally. If enough people became involved maybe using twitter we could have people report the location of speed camera cars and then have some cars pull up nearby and make a phone call to anybody. Just by being on the side of the road with indicator on it could warn other motorists of a speed camera car.

Anybody else have some ideas about how to beat them?

Rocket.

the problem with any protest is the only people who are impressed with them are the people involved. the greater community will just look at any protestor as an idiot. protests are like car alarms going off. the only time people take notice of them is when it gets in the way of their life and then of course they hate you for it . . . very rarely is someone's view changed in a positive way through protest

about the only way to do anything is to do what flappist suggested. it will never happen though, because people cannot work together for a common goal (especially if it takes more than one afternoon to achieve it)

Yeah well... i have been actively trying to do that for several weeks with varying success. A couple of weeks ago i saw on the news that the speed camera would be positioned on main north rd para hills west the next day. Drove to work with one eye on the speedo. Wouldn`t you know it - the sneaky b@stards had the car backed right in behind the trees - very well hidden. You could not see it until you were right on it. 80k zone. Looked down and sure enough - doing 84klm/hr. Shyte! Still waiting to see if i receive fine number 3 for the month.

Try and keep your speedo under 50 or under 40 in the respective zones. Not easy. Take your eye off the speedo for a second or so and you are over.

Did i mention they are greedy a-hole SOB`s.

And no, i am not a maniac. Middle aged respectable citizen. Can`t wait to retire and get the hell out of this shytehole police state.
