If you want a supercharged motor from factory that will do 460+hp with just a tune and filter then go the GS.
I drove the sedan and while not my cup of tea, it sure was impressive when you sunk the boot in. Tune is only ~$1600 and includes K&N filter. |

Yeah xr8s are struggling to move at mid 30s....i would wait and see what BPR officially say for thier new na package. Apparenty 320-370rwkws which would be awesome..depends on cost but they must be getting close to finalising it.

If it was me and I really wanted a S/C then I wouldn't waste anymore money on a XR8, I would go straight for the factory job allready and be happy with that.

Furthermore, you can pick up a near-new GS that's 6 months old for $46k if you shop around.
Brand new the one I looked at was $56k |

Which car do you really want, heavily modded XR8 Ute or a near new S/C 5.0 GS?
And if you were looking at spending another $14K on top of that, why not look a near new GT? They all cost money but only you can be the judge of what's best bang for bucks.... |

wrong gs, he means the 5.0 s/c
vote here for the GS, factory, they respond well and it'll be worth more down the track compared to an aftermarket s/c ( as good as the bpr kit is ) |

let's say you get $30k for your XR8, you already know you want to throw another $20k at it to get it supercharged. That's $50k.
Ex-demo or even low km GS 5.0 s/c ute should be around that mark if not cheaper, and it comes with full factory warranty, no engineering cost/headaches, no rego headaches, and no hassling from cops about being a highly modified car. The sums do it for me, and anything you get over $30k for the XR8 means you are in front by that much.

looking at it from a buyers perspective, in my eye`s anyway, if i see mods on a prospective car, the value goes down $10,000, so to me an unmolested very low k newish v8 ute would be worth much more to me, so if you are going to do the swap /trade in on a blown GS..... imo now would be the time.

Trade the XR8 and get the factory supercharged FPV GS. No brainer.
The upfront is more in one go. But less in total. Newer too.

If you can get the sort of money for your ute, i'd upgrade to the GS, if you struggle to move it for good money i'd visit XFT for a Kenne Bell S/C or the Full Bolt on's + Plenum & Camshaft(s) upgrade.

Depending on what power you want, could a Harrop/Herrod top mount be cheaper?

The GS may cost a little more up front, but would be a much better package overall. So i would go for the GS.

GS mate, selling a supercharged xr8 ute later on down the track would be very hard to do. The GS is much more tunable and i believe an all round better car.

Maate, what eva you do your gonna lose money on it.
What are you gonna do if you swap & they bring out a HO. Bite the bullet & either live with your past decision or do the changeover. It's your money. I bought my FGF6 & am happy as is. I'd love a more refined vehicle but hey. Can't afford a Ferrari for the road & a real track so............ All said & done buy the S/C & live with it. You do this thread in a year & your a d... ! haha cheers for the input guys there are some great responses there haha
nah im not one to change over my vehicles to quickly only reason i sold my BA Mk2 ute which was 5.5years old with only 60k on clock was coz i was going to supercharge it and my mrs said dont waste your money and get a V8 coz i always wanted one so i did. i work away so my cars only get driven for 5 days every 2 weeks btw i just guess my selling price on the FG by looking in adds and stuff, there are still a few for sale over here around $38k for 09 models with 22,000kms on them, but i should be able to get around $35k i recon if i keep my FG ute i will have it for 5-10years so in the long run the mods wont be to bad. FG Vs GS both are the same just different motors (and its a big difference at that) ahhh might just go for a road test and go from there mmmmmmmmmmmm what to do whats this about BPR with there N/A kits too? but if you see my ute modded or i get a GS you will know my answer
