Judging by the username of the seller, could be a wrecker capitalising on an unusual find.

Rare yes..... desirable....... potentially, but it would take a serious amount of work to get that fairlane looking great again.

oh true, but still the wrecked parts even need cleaning to establish what condition they are in.

Apart from the plate and some removed stickers, what made it a Brock?

wheels seats, s/wheel, i think minor exhaust changes. i thought the cluster had hissignature but could well ne wrong.

that one certainly looks worth saving, but hard to justify any real expense to do so, cant see the value doing anything dramatic.

Shame about the condition...

DA/NA to DC/NC fairlanes are awesome, the only fairlanes that had that amount of restyling were the AU's...

Yes indeed...I'd say that Fairlane is well worth saving. Any of that model looks good when nicely done up with a good paint job, but one of the rare Brock ones is doubly so.
I mean, looking closer at the pictures, a good steam clean under the bonnet and around the car, a good clean up of the paintwork and a few little dents fixed, and the interior could be repaired at a resonable cost, providing you get it cheaply enough in the first place.

They are rare but not as rare as the Brock maverick. They produced but had different work done to the 164kw tickfords

It doesn't even look that bad. Why are we all so scared of a bit of dirt/neglect?

It's a 20 year old car for goodness sake.

An afternoon with some cleaning products and it'd look 1000x better. That's a job for the buyer.

A couple of grand and some elbow grease and you'd be driving around in one of the rarest Fairlanes around and IMO an interesting piece to take to Ford shows.

Macman - bang on the money...

I've been pursuing a 1-owner Brock EA Fairmont Ghia for some time now... sitting... rotting... but with no sucess...

This Fairlane would certainly be a keeper - even though it ain't pretty at the moment... like you've said - a bit of a cleanup - and its a great car...

wonder how many of the AFF guys will end up bidding?

the seller is a good bloke, i've bought stuff off him before. it was a car he bought to wreck but it was too good so he's selling it but if it doesn't sell it will be wrecked.

looks a bit sad but it would be sader to see it wrecked. it's not so bad it can't be resurected . just hope it goes to a restorer rather than a moder

Whoa...some cars just don't age well, do they...

I've seen quite a few of that model Fairlane around over the last few years, (not Brock ones of course), and the number of those that I've seen that are still in nice condition could probably be counted on one hand. With Holdens it's VN/VP's...the damn things seem to just fall apart, but you still see a lot of very nice pretty much standard VL's that preceeded them driving around.

The "Hand-written" looking ID plate would be original...I've seen similar on Brock specials.

I'd guess it's probably because VLs and XFs stand out more being obviously 'old' and the most of the ones left on the road belong to elderly people, whereas the crummy Fairlanes would blend in, being a bit more modern. It's been a long time since I saw an XF or VL on the road and the last one I can remember was a mint little old lady's VK Vacationer.

I saw a mint VL Berlina parked on the side of the road in Gawler SA yesterday.
It was for sale, was a bronze/brown colour and had advertised 56,000 genuine k's.

Didn't see the asking price though.

Never been a fan of the Brock 'lanes though, but i'd have a fully optioned Brock Falcon in Monza anyday.
