Hi I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the first Falcon model to use modern (clearcoat) paint was? Anyone know the first Holden to use it as well? Thanks.

Ford Falcon XF series 2 1986-7. There was one particular silver colour that definately was. EA's in 1988 had clear coat on just about every colour, even the solid red colour.
AFAIK Holden always had clear coat over their metalics, as they were finished in acrylic lacquer up until the VR series 2 in 1994, when they changed to the 'modern' method as you describe. Last edited by 4stanger; 20-01-2012 at 06:45 AM. |
