Still, 5000km is a very odd number, did he suddenly decide that he would preserve the car after driving a whole 5000km? I don't think so... This advert stinks of fish. |

Obviously doesn't want to sell the car. That price is ludicrous.
An average Telstar may go for $1000. With 5000 ks, I'll be generous and say $5000 is a realistic asking price and ONLY for the novelty of the low ks. Collector's car? Unlikely. The only thing going for it is the low ks. He said NO OFFERS. Hey don't worry, at an asking price of $30000, he won't get any.

That car must of had some serious sentimental value to the owner to store it for 26 years. More likely it's wound the clock and they've tided it up to rip off an unfortunate buyer.

The steering wheel appears to have been worn a bit to smooth and shiny if it's only done just on 5,000k's.

Can anyone imagine taking that car for a test drive?? 30 year old tyres? They would be so hard it would have no traction at all. That would be if it ran at all. The spark plug leads look very perished and the carby would also be in sad condition. Pick, pick, pick. It's what I do...

Reminds me of our 1986 tx5 turbo! That was a good car actually! Electronic shock adjustment buttons, hit 200 at the drop of a hat!
Also reminds me of my Grandma who bought a brand new 1985 (bubble backed ones) Laser ghia, had it till about 2000, and had about 2000km on it, before not wanting it anymore. (cant remember what she got for it) Also we have another old lady freind who had a cortina, I think it was a 1963 stock standard one, bought new with something like 30,000 miles!, she sold it just a few years back. (cant remember how much again) |

Even if it has only done 5000 k's it still begs the question, why would anyone buy a Telstar of all things and preserve it for such a long time? Surely they didn't think that in 25 years or so it will be worth a mint?

This is the reply I got from the seller this morning (My question to him first):
Hi there. Just wondering if the price is correct? Should it be $3000? If it actually is $30000, may I ask what that figure was based on? Granted that the ks may be low. They will only add a few grand on to the average price though. Thanks for your enquiry. The price stated is correct - $30,000 Based on, you will not find any better in the whole of Australia. The car is for and sale, as a collectors car, and based on judgements from various clubs and other collectors. Is there a Telstar club somewhere? Other collectors? Which ones?????

My Dad had one of these back in the day. 2 tone brown. He never serviced it. Couldn't kill it. No matter how hard he tried. Good car in its day. Today, not so much.
