If you have received or read the latest GoAuto news as I did, I came across an ad by an employment company advertising for new engineers to work on a new project. Any ideas on what the local lads are working on and could this be the "wagon" version of Ranger or something new?

It was quite clever. But most falcon ute ads have been really good, just need to see it more often.

i guess it's good they are investing in the design center, even if that means they don't continue building cars here.

Guys if anyone is interested they started to outsource their hiring a while ago. Its a complete PIA but the company is Bayside Recruitment..have a look, some good jobs going if you have the qualification.
Long term security? Dont know.

Its been this way for a long time, at all the locals. Engineers go from company to company chasing work. |

Why are they putting people on now for Ranger SUV? Didn't they hire a bunch of engineering people right at the end of Ranger when the first mention came about of the SUV work?
They weren't involved in the 'Fiesta SUV' (aka Territory Mini-Me) after all, as was mentioned at the Indian reveal. And Kuga seems to be an entirely European affair. Is this something beyond Range SUV, but on the same platform, perhaps? Lukeyson

First ones will be hacked up Rangers with a wagon body replacing the tray. They are extremely crude at this point, all hand fabricated and rough as guts. |

Wow, even Gover is positive in his assessment of Ford Australia hiring, plus adds in the $103 million cash injection for Territory / Falcon developments and even adds that the Territory will be displayed at Bangkok

A mate of mine studies mechanical/electrical engineering at USNW, always wanted to work with cars ... went to the USA years ago and never came back.
Another guy i used to know did aero engineering in the same uni, went to the usa to work on planes and never came back. I don't personally think there is any real future in Australia for engineers related with the various manufacturing industry ... |
