Hey guys.
Just asking a question. I just got done another $206 for no P plate on the car, I got done before christmas and lost 2 points, P platers have 4. The first time I admit I knew I didn't have one. Now, I got done this morning coming back from a small town picking up my girl. He asked why I had no p plate, and I told him the truth. The town I went to is one of the worst towns going, I had one on there and it was stolen, and there is NO shop nore the police station open in this town as its small. Anyway, he gave me $206 fine and 3 points. Does this mean I will get a letter in the mail with loss of liscense, 2 points before christmas, and 3 today? seems to me I will. |

Ok. Being a P Plater you will be off the road regardless of any outcome.
You can go to court and try and fight it and you may be able to get off lightly if you have a genuine reason for needing your license, such as to get to work. Also being in a rural area im guessing there isn't much public transport. Elect to do the driver offenders program and you may find that they will put you off the road for a significantly less time. So as soon as the fine arrives, don't pay, go to the local court house and book in a date. These are two minor infringements so they may go easy on you. |

Yes.
My advice, make sure you get the letter. You may be able to dodge a conviction at court in relation to "not knowing" stating you did not receive the letter. However your insurance will not give a toss and secondly the Police officer may also not care. If you get done and convicted at court you will be court disqualified. This is a whole other mess to deal with as once the disqualified ball starts rolling it can be a real problem. May still be able to make application for probationary licence. Just call Manager driver licensing in your state to enquire.

You've lost 5 points total, so yes, you're going to be a pedestrian for awhile.

Sounds to me like it's gone. Best thing to do is get the number plate attachment for the p plate. Doesn't look great but p plates are there for a reason

I'm from Vic so not exactly sure how it works in NSW, but if you've lost more points then you have then you are in a world of hurt.
Who even steals a P plate? |

When I was on my P's back in the day, an officer actually witnessed someone pull the P plate off my car. A few minutes later I got in it and drove away - not knowing. He pulled me up and booked me for not displaying the plate, advising me that I should check every time I get in the car. |

Back when I was at school in yr 11 and 12 most people drove to school. The school was surrounded by cars parked all day with p plates. Some afternoons you would come out and almost every car was missing it's p plates. I would carry at least 10 spare plates at all times. Wasted so much plastic. P plates are the biggest waste of time. They are only used by other p platers so they know to drag race you or drive like a ******** around you. And i gues they help the government with revenue raising. |

You'll be walking for 3 months - then back on P's. I wouldn't worry about trying to get out of it with a letter - as the driver, you are responsible to ensure that your P's a are attached/dispayed before using the vehicle (ie do a quick visual before you drive).

Stupid question, but why can't you put the P-Plates inside the car and attach them high on the inside of the window. Seems a simple solution.

The RTA made that illegal as of July 1, 2007. Apparently it was too easy to obscure them when they were inside the vehicle.
