Default GMH sell of new old stock?

I heard that GMH could be in negoiations with Rare Spares over the purchase of thousand's of NOS parts stored in warehouses in Vic. Apparently Ford Aust. would rather dump their parts than sell them? I'm unsure if any of this could be true, so just putting it out there if anyone can confirm or deny.

I & I'm sure many of you would love to get your hands of NOS Ford stuff. I think it's a great waste it this stuff was dumped. If it has something to do with being witten off & therefore must be dispossed of ie. not for sale, then why not give it to Lifeline or some other charity to sell & make some easy $$?

Any one?

Sounds like a good idea to give it away to charity who then on sell it to Rarespares or whoever, maybe you should let Ford know about that idea!

It's even more fun with a takeover. Mitsubishi dumped a lot fo Chrysler stuff (mainly documentation I think?) when they took over in Oz .. and ask an American Motors fan what they think of Chrylser - when Chrysler bought out AMC they trashed almost everything relating to non-Jeep stuff .. so most of the NOS parts, tooling, documentation that wasn't in dealers has just disappeared :(

Not on the scale of Motorfield they get all the parts taken off the Commodores by HSV eg brakes calipers, tail lights etc.

Over at Broadmeadows they drive the cars across the road to FPV and FPV have to throw away the calipers and discs for scrap metal and they have only driven 2 klm's, we were told that its a Ford policy FPV have to do it. (such I waste)

What a waste, seems a bad business move (Obviously it isnt if they do it) but why not on sell the bits. Im sure they would have no issue selling the parts.

Or send them back to the production line to be fitted on the next lot of FPV's... they do this with the wheels.

Before Ebay and the like, dealers would dump heaps of stuff after the yearly stocktake.

Rare Spares have signed a deal with Holden to buy up all their old parts blueprints and start making a lot of the old Holden parts.

I beleive they are also talking to Ford about doing the same things with their parts as well.

Do you think they'll go as far as the yanks and start making repro bodies?
XB Coupes would probably outsell FGs, so ford probably wouldn't like it.

Rare spares have never gone bigger than single panels, so its unlikely they would ever do shells.

Yes i'm aware of many cases in the past where this stuff has been dumped by some manufacturers.

BossXR8 - that fits pretty much what I heard, except that Ford declined & was going to dump instead.

I read on this forum quite a while ago, someone claimed that they worked for a company that does plastic vacuum moulding, in the mid 90's they acquired the moulds off Ford for the plastic XC Grills, they were ordered to destroy them once they were done with them and I think it was mentioned they jumped up and down on them to break them apart or something like that.
Pretty disappointing when you consider most XC guys would give their left testy for a new grille.

Yes AC I had to pay a small fortune for an XC GS second hand grill - to then have to pay extra for the standard repairs.

Repro bodies could never be registered here anyway, so making them for the odd person who wants to use them for racing wouldnt be profitable.

Cool Re: GMH sell of new old stock?

Not quite the same
but back in the eighties I used to deliver parts to Ford and Nissan
anyway in Clayton near the Nissan plant was a mattress factory
where I saw about 50 mattresses in skips still in the plastic
so I asked if I could buy one and was told
it was not worth my job to sell you one
so I enquired further anyway the gist is
all the rejects were covered by insurance and must be destroyed
and cant even be given to Lifeline or Salvos
just a complete waste
much like the Ford bits
