If your Shockwave vehicle has paint that is pealing/flaking/cracking whatever, that's all you need to say. |

It is pealing/flaking but that is the underside of my boot so wouldn't they say that's not worth a respray. Also my spoiler has the clearcoat coming off would that also help There is flaking at the front but it looks more like stone chips I know I'm asking a lot of questions but I'm new to the car scene and just want to know what I'm talking about |

Read the entire thread above, lots of good info on what Ford approved for repainting.

A friend of mine here at work had her 05 BA mkII XT wagon resprayed just a couple of months ago.
It was almost twice as bad as any of the pictures in the prior threads, it had at least 8 or 9 palm-sized patches with no shockwave on them, and one was rusted. FTR the car is not ever really washed or garaged. It took her to threaten the Stealership with leaving the car out the front before they agreed to getting it resprayed. She had been knocked back by a few dealers a few times. Scum.

Had mine resprayed - pretty sure IIRC there has to be 3 or 4 seperate panels that need respraying before they will do the whole car, otherwise they will just do the panel.
When I first took mine in it was only the LHR door so they just did that. The second time it was the drivers door, the passengers door and I think the bonnet had a small flake too.. My local dealer has their own panel shop so the foreman went out of his way to find more affected panels so that he could do a full respray. One of those was the rear underside of the boot lid.

We found from very early on that the "Edge" colour on our 50th Anniversary G6E (built very late 2010) seems to be very thin...every mark, every rub, every knock shows like you'd hit it with a hammer. You can honestly mark it with a fingernail.
We asked Ford about it, they came out and checked, and merely shrugged and started telling us horror stories about their own dark coloured XR6's and other models. "They're all like that" was the consensus... Sorry, but I'd actually like a little decent thickness of durable paint on my near-$50,000 premium model car... I suppose it goes along with the money saving measures of not painting engine blocks or other bare iron parts any more... |
