Hello Everyone.
I have a reasonable collection of Biante Fords 1:18 scale. I know some of them are worth alot, but one of my cars is the first edition white XY GTHO with twin mirrors (numbered 1/900) and the other is a white XY GTHO (numbered 78/1450) with single mirrors. Any ideas about their value? Cheers |

I did a search on ebay and the last one sold for $1500. There is a guy over on the biante site that keeps records on current values.

The very first one was the Track Red XY GTHO... that is the one that gets the big dollars.
Twin mirror whites are also very desrable too.

There's one on eBay at the moment starting at $1000. It's a high number and the certificate is not in good condition in the photo. They are worth at least $1500-$2000

Not only is the answer incorrect, it also in no way helps the person asking the question. If it were worth what someone was willing to pay, that means no one has ever overpaid or underpaid the actual value or what something is worth... Ever. If I find one of these rare models at a garage sale and buy it for $10, is that what the model is now worth?? If I then stick it on eBay for $10k and someone buys it (someone clueless who didn't do their research) is it now worth $10k?? No. Because there's an extreme chance that the same model will never again sell for $10 or $10k. He obviously wants an estimate on what it would reasonably be worth if he wishes to sell. Ie. WHAT are people generally willing to pay for that item. Do you get a valuation on your house and the assessor comes back to you with "Your house is worth what someone is willing to pay". |

I often wonder what these will be worth in 5-10-15 years time. Obviously they can be a great short term investment, but who knows regarding longer term?

Mate I am 100% same as you. Why buy $200+ model cars just to keep them unopened and in pristine condition for ?????? Mine are dust covered and missing aerials etc. I have some of these "rare $$$$" models as mentioned above. But couldn't give a rats what theyre worth, as they won't be sold. They are for me and friends/kids to look at and admire.....

If i knew comeone with a citric acid XR8 ute or a mercury silver Super Pursuit i would probably give them away ... Can you believe i lost ,thats right LOST the Lowndes/Whincup Betta electrical 2006 bathurst car with the peterbrock trophy when i moved house ??! |

each to there own,,i dont think theres any wrong or right when it comes to what you buy,,i love seeing my cars each time i go into the spare room,,there boxes and certificates are all in the garage so one day after im gone they can be brought back together if needs be,,,its the same as my greens tuff falcon,,i changed the rear wheels and tyres so it looks the same as in real life,,some people wouldnt agree with me doing that,,but hey its mine,,dont plan on selling it,,so its worth doesnt matter

As for what its worth - its only worth what someone will pay for it. I tried to sell my Track Red XY (1st release by Biante) a few years ago and was asking $500 but could only get offers of $150-$200 (from Model Car nutters). |

Hmm ... only the white ones? I've got a silver one with two mirrors.
I've got a large collection of Biante and Classic Carlectables Falcons. I got a great deal on the XA Superbird show car at Bathurst ($125 for 1/18th scale), but shipping it home was another story.

I got my silver one around 2000, I think. It has the Globe Star wheels.
