Haha no problem.
The chairs are horrible! But they chains and lounges in the bars are nice. If you get some good weather it is great to get out and watch the views go by. And yea wash the car for sure all the salt and **** in the air will turn your car into a rust bucket in not time.

Its a fun trip actually.. Food is good but expensive. You getting a room? or a deck chair? go the room.

PS. Wash the FG before and after, top and bottom

The day trip is hell, make sure you have a cabin. A few hours is okay, but the seats are not very comfortable. The nightsailing is much better in my opinion. I do it once per year.

When I did my first day trip I loved was great sitting out on the deck with a few cold drinking watching the water and thinking to myself. The second and third time it got old pretty quick. It's not like much changes for 8-9 hours haha. But there are things to do on there. Take a few mags or something and you will be fine

That's just a little ferry trip! I've done it Sydney to Devonport and vv when that service was on, that's a proper voyage. I used to joke that the car did 1000 km on one tank!

If you're bored try the English Channel in a Force 9 gale.

It's costing <$500, how much did you have to pay?

Sorry that was last several years ago, I can't remember now. The service no longer runs.

Just did it a couple days ago!

Did a day voyage, my first time, and the novelty wares off.

Going to the cinema was great to kill time, no matter how bad the movies are.

And deck 10 usually has less people on it, just dont eat the foccacias they suck, stick to a meat pie for sure.

Other than that it went fine, glassy seas but i did notice heaps of over weight people, guessing they cant fit in plane seats.

Have a great trip!

Yup, gave it a wax before the ride down, and washed it after too.

It didnt look like it got covered in salt, but it will need a wash after driving around for a week anyway

Your car is not exposed to to open weather, cant see how it can be affected, and yes I used the ferry numerous times and never seen any type of residue on the exterior of the car....I'm fussy with my cars looking after them.

No phone reception except for in Port Phillip Bay, and about 20 miles offshore of Devonport.
The day sailings are probably best described as gratifying ones self with a cheese-grater; amusing at first but REALLY painful.
When my folks moved down there several years ago, I took the journey several times and by far the worst, was the day trips.
Spirit book the ever loving crap out of the day cruises, and as such there's nowhere to sit on the boat, even the area around "Capt'n Joes Greas-oria and Vomitorium" was full.
It was so full we had to go down to deck 2 for my brothers van and trailer; you drive in and have to reverse out.
Frankly, my advice to you is to get a cabin, at least you can have some privacy and you can also sleep if you want to, have a shower, have your own toilet (which you'll need if you eat at "Capt'n Joes") and all that other stuff.
You should also pack a lunch because the food on board (save for the restaurant - about $90.00 per person with wine) is garbage and will have you reaching for the sick bag.
Be prepared to pay $7.00 for a VB, and more for anything more elaborate.

Best advice I can give is this; either go at night or, get a cabin and take some sleeping pills.

And it is so freaken expensive in the nicer times to go and when you don't score a special. Is cheaper to fly, stay in hotels for a few days, drink to your heart's content and eat in nice restaurants, hire a car for a week. And you can do all that on what it costs to take two of you, a car and in a cabin return.... It has knobs on it really.
I have to go when the V8s are on this year, and the pain involved is diablolical, hotels charge what ever they want etc. It's a nightmare round to get to. And I don't say this to dis Tassie, I like the place, just came back from the Tamar Valley Beer Festival again after also doing it last year. All done on $39 Jetstar flights, $156 return for the pair of us... Add in one of the best hotels in Launceston, and all the food and alcohol we consumed and we would have spent more just getting there and back on the boat.....

I agree 100%.
Thing is too, there's so many people that buy a ticket for around $60.00 who then proceed to block all the public areas and selfishly put bags and all their other hobo gear on the seats. I'm not an elitist but Goddam, there's some weird people on board.
