Default Ford Future Vehicle Presentation;Falcon?

http://corporate.ford.com/doc/ir_201...Conference.pdf

Alot of news outlets have covered Ford accidentally revealling the next Edge in this . That has since been rectified.
What I noticed was 3 silhouettes on the C/D platform (one being Edge) slide, and a slide about platform reduction, how they intend to reduce the number of core platforms from 14 in 2014 to 9, with silhouettes picture (slide 10) . Can anyone guess what the silhouettes are of?
God help us if Dowling gets his hands on this, so I hope somebody on here can make sense of it before that.

Will this end all the speculation on Fords intentions? Good on them looks like there is a quality amount of cars to choose from, great.

Well the link was publicly displayed on an American automotive news website, and is accessible to the public so I don't see why not.

Um jeez... perhaps new/fresh models packing more technology and very much pushing modern engines and better fuel economy springs to mind..

Cant see how this is ANYTHING BUT a benefit to ford. -Furure looks bright. -For global models anyway. - Nothing here about Falcon.

Mustang got a mention on just one page.

A 4 Door Mustang is still within scope of that plan .....

Interesting, thanks for sharing it. Some of it is old news but nice to see some detail on things we never see, like the new MKZ. The three 'blank' cars in the global C/D platform slide are no doubt next gen Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Edge (or an MPV). Falcon doesn't factor into it because it is a regional platform, whereas the presentation is about Ford's global operations and global platforms.

So why does Mustang get a mention then? Is Mustang global? That's regional as well isn't it?

My guess is as good as anyone else's, but I'm willing to bet there is a sub-B in the wings aswell.
Next gen Taurus, MKS and possibly Explorer will be on a variant of CD4. The D3 platform currently used will die or be carried on as a regional-only deal for the Police interceptor program.

F150 is still slated to be confined to North America as far as I'm aware.

Transit Custom as you've called it (I presume you mean the Connect?) goes to C3.

.
Given that there was an F-Series on the front page, and that its one of the top sellers, I think its popular enough to be a staple platform in its own right.

No, I meant this bad boy.

Judging by the projections, Holden's 2 pronged approach with Cruze and Commodore seems wiser, given the shrinking D-Segment. I think its safe to assume they will have more in common next generation (not necessarily FWD).
If only we had something like MQB, so we could make EcoSport, Edge, maye 7 seater Edge and Territory off the same platform.

Falcon and Territory not one single mention, like we don't exist........ Ford Oz is doomed unless they can get a slice of the 9 core cars pie.

Welp, and there is only one platform in the entire Ford universe that supports RWD, AWD, 4cyl, 6cyl and V8 engines, hmmm I wonder which one that is?

Well said. Its such a shame. We have world class vehicle and motor engineers and designers and we dont even get the chance to build our own car to give to the world.

Exactly, Ford Oz is manufacturing the best quality cars it ever has in it's history. Something to be proud of.

Slide 56 seems to show that the current Falcon/Territory platform is planned to be gone. 99% of production on core platforms is the projection.

Which still leaves 1 % on regional platforms which I'm sure Falcon / Territory would be lucky to make up 0.005% at a guess?

The only window I saw from this data & the whole 9 platforms by 2016, is that graphy that shows total Ford sales in 2016 will be 99% from those 9 global platforms. Let’s hope the 1% remaining is the Falcon/territory!!

Also, why was there a picture of Sydney Harbour on the Lincoln page?

Maybe Ford will make a Limousine base with the Falcon, at a guess however we will still lose the Falcon but retain it under another name as Ford do not really have anything to offer in this class.

Seems a shame to spend so much money on a model just to kill off in 2 years if they think their only going to sell 1200 or less a month.
Business sense says that you would only keep make existing model (FG) all the way through to 2016.
