I like it. I think it's a really well designed advert. Thoughts and discussion?

Missus saw the VF ad tonight and said " why doesn't Ford advertise the Falcon ? " I said " that gets a lot of discussion on FF."
Its a good ad, shows the VF tech and it being exported to America..

But that's the thing - Ford aren't failing at all. Think GFC and what transpired. Ford was the only one of the big 3 that didn't fail.

Very slick. The only gripe I have with it is the line: "The car that's always turned heads"
I'm struggling to think of a time when I've taken a second glance at a Commodore... |

Saw it for the first time today. Great ad. The VF looks real nice in Chevy guise driving through the streets of NYC, I must admit.

I think the ad is one of the best I've ever seen. It made me actually pay attention to it. It's hard to make me do that especially with tv.
I was impressed with the way the ad touched on lots of important points (overseas export, the gadgets, 3.3million testing klm etc) so as to cover all bases. A top effort from the Holden marketing team. I'm not going to make a comparison against ford. It's not why I created the thread. I am genuinely impressed by the ad and think Holden did a great job. Thumbs up.

The ad is quit well made and should hit the target audience.
I can see a bunch of Chev grilles being fitted to them though.... "But it is a Chevrolet, the ad says so..." |

I fail to see the reasoning behind the chev badge on the commodore, I've asked some work mates why they have it and you get the answer it's a gm blah blah it's a 350 chev. I then say are you not proud of the history of holden or being a holden fan/owner then, being that it used to be and Australian owned company before becoming a subsidiary of GM and now are fully integrated? that gets most of them going. Don't forget most of them also have the southern cross on the back window and say they are patriotic, straya!

Nothing negative to say about it, shows off the new features and presents the VF well.

Ford obviously do have a marketing department except the Falcon was on the "not to do" list. I've seen the new Kuga add about 150 times now as well as the public display of the car in the city parklands about a month or so back

It's an Australian built car that is being sold overseas. We should all ignore the badge and cheer it on for that fact.
Great advert...I think most Ford people will be considering "what might have been" if Ford had spent one brass razoo on advertising the Falcon...but as for export, I think the parent company in the USA held a rather tighter grip on Ford Australia than GM does over Holden... |

Maybe by younger generations, but to me the '70's ad for the Chrysler Sigma going through the plate of glass was the most memorable. Also the Ford ad with the Ford racing drivers standing in a line acting as witches hats while the XC slaloms around them. |

[QUOTE=Silver Ghia;4787816]I can't even remember an ad for the FG when it was introduced, or since then. [\QUOTE]
How could you forget the walking fingers? It us probably one of the most memorable Ford ads of recent times..... for all the wrong reasons. Last edited by stevz; 24-06-2013 at 02:27 PM. |

[QUOTE=stevz;4787825]' Can't get enough of this ' in 2002 and Alex Lloyd's '...Ford Territory, with 6 speed auto and AWD, the possibilities... are amazing.' Glory days. Ever since then, Ford has never produced a memorable ad.

Holden is a "special case". The Commodore is an export earner, the Falcon is a purely local model. Perhaps if Ford USA had loosened their grip a little on the local arm of the company, and let them export the Falcon, things might have been different.
