Hi everyone,
I'm going to be selling one of my GTP's soon and replacing it with something that will cost 10K max and have under 150,000kms. It has to be economical to run and I don't want it to be any older than 2003. My ideas so far are either BA Fairlane or Fairmont Ghia on LPG or a diesel VW Golf. Otherwise a FG XT dedicated LPG. I don't care what brand car I get as long as its a decent car. I've heard bad things about the Commodore 3.6lt engine. What suggestions do you guys have and what pros and cons go with your ideas?? Thanks, Greg.

Would buy one in a heart beat if I needed a run about. Cheap, unique, semi-exotic, quick and a bit different. Not to mention one of the safest cars on the road.

what about this, very decent, this one in particular is ridiculously cheap because he wants it gone! theres a few going for less than 10k though. only cons that can think of is servicing and insurance. It's gotta be a jaggggg!

Hands down has to be this for the parameters you set above..
http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/de.../?Cr=0&sdmvc=1 Full leather luxury, rare and discontinued model (last was in 05 I think), handles very well, great 6 speed manual box, surprisingly powerful (same 144 kw engine used in lotus elise), minimum 700 kms out of 55 litre tank of petrol and absolutely bullet proof. Used to have one and miss it dearly. |

There is something primal about an 8000rpm gear change in these things. The yamaha cylinder head in these things is what makes them special. Not to mention the leather, climate air, close ratio six speed gearbox, 16" alloys, sports suspension..... Win. Oh and they'd certainly give an XR4 fiesta a more than fair run. |

BF Falcon on dedicated gas, put a external trans cooler on it, service it every 10,000 kays and drive it till it dies. Cheap to run, cheap to fix.

Old man has the Astina 1.8L version and its got 360,000km on the clock, nearly 200,000km overdue for a timing belt and it hasn't snapped yet, and its been abused all its life and I learned to drive in, these things don't break. Also on its original clutch with 360,000km on the clock. |
