I've got an s2 sr, and have never had an issue with the radiator until today! It's leaking so bad it's absolutely pouring water out of it. Looking at it, it seems to be coming out near the top of the right hand side and leaking down. The temp gauge only reads about 1/4, but the water coming out is boiling, as is the water in the reservoir. Any ideas?

Are the fans working? Also if its leaking real bad it wont be pressurizing the system which lowers the boiling point of the coolant..

Fans are working. And it's pretty much just water in there now coz I've had to keep topping it up as I was getting around today. No signs of rust at all.

Gidday Kate648,
I have a 6 cyl AU SR Sedan Series 3 - petrol only, I just bought it a few weeks ago (has 230K on odometer) and suddenly over the first week of ownership I had the same position leaking and the passenger side of the top and bottom areas of radiator core. I took it out and can see different coloured areas on that side of the radiator and mostly like hairline cracks. You can follow the good advice of Maka but please don't forget that your original radiator may leak in another place as its an age wear tear issue. Or you can purchase a brand new aftermarket reputable radiator. Instead of getting a repair of an old used original radiator I used those funds to got towards an aftermarket brand new radiator. Consequently I bought a branded Arad Radiators, Model number F035PACA aftermarker radiator compatible for Falcon AU 6 & 8 cyl Auto 1998-2002, from Bursons around $180. I also found out that it's only an Aluminium single fin core radiator as the Copper double fin cores are twice the price. But I'm happy and no more leaks wohoo. Also I just remembered that on the passenger side of the top radiator there is no nut on tope of radiator to hold onto the fan shroud bolt. But thankfully there is a nut on the radiator drivers side for the fan shroud bolt and that holds in fine. If you need removal and reinstall tips let me know and I can pass on my experience. Good luck and cheers ps I also replaced both lower and upper main hoses with Mackay hoses and kept the old ones as backup. Also I replaced the thermostat with original Ford as well as changing the genuine Green coloured "O" ring under the thermostat housing going into the water pipe as preventative maintenace. Maybe the plastic side tank has split on the right side of the radiator, talk to a radiator specialist for a good deal on a replacement radiator & fitting etc.
cheers, Maka
