Have to be the coyote for sure. Or do something with that 777 R&D engine they had a few years back now that would be nice.

Keep the old body and modernise the drive line/chassis, insert the SC Voodoo and new wheels, love that body shape

That article to me had a few holes in it but there is a strong rumour about Ford returning to LeMans going around. IMO the power estimates for Voodoo are too high. Development Roadrunner engines were doing 500hp but the 302 BOSS only had about 440hp claimed. I'd expect Ford to claim around 500hp for the GT350, maybe up to 520-550hp. You don't want to go racing with a supercharged engine either so IMO it'll be NA or twin turbo, and looking at what they've done with the V6's, I don't see them putting turbos on the larger 5.2L V8. |

I really hope they race it this time. That was the biggest disappointment about the last version. But superchargers don't fit with any form of racing other than drag racing.

Good god I hope its like that sketches.
I agree I hope they stay away from any FI actually...Just a monster BOSS version of the revised 5.0, make it able to run a 24HR race no worries.

I'd love to see a forced-induction Voodoo with around 900-1000HP, (in Veyron and Koenigsegg territory, at 1/10th of the price).

What am I missing?
Why is the article questioning what engine to slot in? the current V8 is more powerful than the previous V8? Whatever the install it will obviously be bespoke and not straight out of the parts bin. Nice looking rig. |

It looks more like the GT-90 concept.

I don't think the 6.2 has a future so that might be a bit tricky.

Yeah I realize what the 777 based on and yes I should have clarified it would have to be alloy. As was said the last GTs 5.4 had unique parts made just for the GT but became available in the ford racing catalogue later. It would be nice to have 700 odd N/A horsepower but anyway all would be acceptable except for 3.5 v6 but that just my opinion just because of traditionally having a V8.

Nope that's the brand new one they put in the 2013 GT500. The article I linked has it rated as one of the top 10 engines of 2013.

Maybe they want to emulate the XJ220 more than another attempt at the GT40

a flat plane voodoo v8 would be the worst thing ford could do to there v8 catalogue, flat plane v8s sound absolutely terrible , it kills the 90 degree firing order that makes a v8 sound like a v8. shame on ford

Cause all Ferrari V8s sound terrible, so does the McLaren MP4-12C and the Porsche 918 Spyder. Not forgetting just about every V8 race car.

Most of us are used to (prefer) the 90° burble and odd firing order we get. Even the LS sounds 'wrong' due to it's firing order, needs some big cams to sound V8 again.

I don't appreciate your little roll eye quote not needed mate, I personally love the coyote engine the way it is, they rev to 8000rpm with ease already and make 110% v/e at peak torque in the wide rpm range they operate at. and could u please explain the benefit of a flat plane crankshaft in the coyote platform? so it will be more rev happy ? ps. im guessing you don't include the largest private race car market aftermarket and scene (USA) which mainly use there domestic v8 engine's , and im not talking about nascars either. |
