Default Best-ever Falcon FG X and SZ Territory MkII assembly begins at Broadmeadows

Broadmeadows Assembly Plant 1 now building Falcon FG X and SZ Territory MkII for December 1 on-sale

Fuel economy in entry Falcon petrol six-cylinder sedan down from 9.9 L /100km to 9.0 L/100km^ – a 9 per cent improvement

Falcon welcomes Australian debut of SYNC2, Ford’s advanced in-car connectivity system that features advanced voice control for easier access to audio, navigation†, climate control and connected devices including smart phones.

MELBOURNE, 20 Oct, 2014 – Ford’s Broadmeadows Assembly Plant 1 has kicked off Job 1 production for the best ever Falcon FG X and SZ Territory MkII ahead of a December 1 on-sale.
“Years of design and development brings us to this point and the whole team have been laser-focused on bringing customers the best ever Falcon, and seeing them come off the production line, ready for owners, is a great moment for all of us here at Ford,” said Falcon and Territory Vehicle Line Director, David Wilkinson.
“There are plenty of spy shots out there, however these are of pre-production vehicles we use for final quality checks,” he said.
“Ford has a rigorous global quality process that we follow to ensure Falcon and Territory are built to the highest Ford standards for our customers and without a doubt, these are the best cars we’ve ever made here at Broadmeadows,”
“Everyone at Ford is incredibly proud of these cars.”

The Falcon FG X and SZ Territory MkII feature an array of world class, customer-focused smart technologies standard across the range including Ford’s SYNC2™ connectivity system with Emergency Assistance. As well, customers will gain a digital radio and twin antennas for improved audio quality. Front parking sensors and a rear camera with static overlays are standard on Falcon Sedan and all Territorys.
Also, Ford has confirmed fuel efficiency gains for the 2014 Falcon sedan, as part of a range of improvements designed to deliver greater comfort, driving performance and efficiency for customers.
“This is a significant story for our customers,” Wilkinson said. “Achieving good fuel efficiency in modern cars is inherently more challenging because of added weight from contributing things like extra features and added safety equipment.
“The extensive use of high-strength light-weight steels in the 2014 Falcon helps but the further refinement of the powertrains is testament to the continual process of improvement being done here at Ford. The in-line six cylinder engine in the Falcon is recognised as one of the most refined six cylinder engines around with a great balance of smooth power and fuel efficiency.”
As well as delivering Job 1, Ford has released more images of the interior of the new Falcon FG X.
All models gain new fabrics and updated instrument cluster graphics, finishes and detailing with the XR series getting new 3D rings.
High series models gain new seat fabrics and leather on redesigned sew styles. A tan trim option is available for G6E and G6E Turbo models, adding a level of sophistication to the cabin. The tan leather seats and door inserts are contrasted with black carpeting.
XR Series and the G6E Turbo gain a darker upper environment colour called Shadow, while the Falcon and Falcon G6E models gain a light Limestone upper environment.
In keeping with its sporty performance theme, XR series models feature a perforated leather wrapped steering wheel with stitching in a new accent colour thread.
The XR6 includes a prestige audio system, sports cloth seats, sports pedals, sports instrument cluster with blue backlighting and Shadow upper cabin environment. The powerful XR8 takes the sports theme further with leather seats and premium 9-speaker sound system with amplifier and subwoofer.
The new SYNC2 in-car connectivity system offers clarity and ease of use via a high resolution touch-screen, enabling drivers to navigate through all the car’s settings with ease. The SYNC2 voice control system allows drivers access to features such as audio, phone, climate controls and navigation† whilst keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

The Falcon FG X and SZ Territory MkII go on sale December 1, 2014.

They should rename Broadmeadows to Fordmeadows in memory of the great cars that were produced there..
