So MoFoCo Detroit was always against the Falcon, even if its prime in the 90s.

I dont think the they were against the Falcon, more against a marginally profitable business in a segment they saw dieing. Makes you wonder where Ford would be in Australia and what vehicles we would have access to if they decided to bite the bullet back then.

True.. have to give credit to Detroit for the money they begrudgingly spent on the Falcon decade after decade. Otherwise, we would only have the option of Toyota Camry/V6 only in the segment like the rest of Asia, and probably an updated Sigma/Magna in the 90s. Without Falcon, Holden wouldn't have had any incentive to improve much beyond VN or VS..

True, Plus as brutal as it sounds, if it had closed down back then how many more jobs would have been lost? Production was alot higher and the engineers and designers didnt work on near as many global models as they do today, Ford probably wouldnt have kept as many on like they will now.

hard to say, but imo the bean counters would have been trying to kill off ford oz for decades for sure, and who could blame them, it is pretty obvious consecutive powers that be,
one after the other have all but stuck the daggers into the local product with their lack of support for our manufacturing sector.
handouts to keep them operating on a tight budget does not really help to make better product when the other companies are spending exorbitant amounts of money to get ahead of the pack.

If ,Detroit says "lights out before Oct 2016" then thats all folks...nothing Aus Ford can do..But they could send Falcon out in style..Like another company is doing with their car...

Problem is what could they do? An XR6T special editon sticker pack? They cant do another GTF without alienating an already disgruntled customer base. They could do an XR8 "core" edition, only manual, no sync 2, no leather, no spoiler, optional steelies, knock it down to sub 50k driveaway, guess thats not really going out in style but could be a good way to get rid of any leftovers.

What a rubbish article.

If Graziano was asked to step away, it's more likely because sales of the imports that are supposed to supplement Falcon and Territory sales have completely flopped, despite millions spent on advertising them. Ford are selling everything they build here so what more can they do?

I still can't understand why Fords sales and marketing team haven't all been sacked. If anything they get promoted to the top job for being so crap, like Sherwood. The failures rest with them, yet they remain a protected species. I wish I could remain such an utter failure at my job yet still get promoted.
