No brainer RS all the way. I loved the look of the old ones but now with awd they should be weapons.

Glad its so simple

Mustang - RWD, coupe body, V8 noise

RS - AWD (but does that mean its a little bit dull? bit understeery?), little more practical

I'm just thinking when the streets are packed with 4 door 4 cylinder mustang taxis the RS will be even more appealing.

Can't comment on the awd setup as I'm guessing its fairly new so no doubt may have a few bugs.

Team RS have made the FWD Focus and Fiesta STs pretty damn captivating.

I can't wait to see what they do with AWD!

That's all well and good to say. Until you find the price for the new RS. I'm not gonna disagree re ST.

sorry mate , i may have mislead you with my poor wording, what i should have said was .......despite how good the ST looks(and it does look good), my mind was already made up for the pony car,
i just never get tired of that v8 sound off from the lights.

$50k will have HEAPS of people coming....the Focus range needs a boost but its not here until next year!

By that time half the competition will have had a facelift.

I'd of thought once the Mustang arrives they will end up being a dime a dozen ( as in everywhere ) . The RS AWD maybe not so much. I reckon I'd go with the RS...........

For my 2 cents worth, I don't know how close it will get to the Mercedes A45 or maybe even surpassing it in drivability but it will sure be more than competitive in terms of pricing.

The A45 for 2016 is looking at 381bhp so to match this tuners will need to bring the RS from 233Kw up to 283Kw. For those in the know, how difficult would this be.

Cheers Vincenzo

FYI Focus RS will be 257 KW.

Mustang ecoboost is 233. 👌

Exactly, my point, I believe the A45 will be approx $75K. So, if the RS is going to hit the market for $50K then, you sure have a little bit of extra to play with in terms of upgrade. I guess for some though there will be lack of "SNOB" factor.

Cheers Vincenzo

I reckon you will be able to match the A45 for $10k or less.

A45 is a beast no doubt and I wouldn't say no to one.
However I think the RS is a different beast all together. Ford RS are renowned for providing cars that perform better on track than on paper. I think the RS will punch above its weight, it may not have the prestige of the A45 but it'll have the performance. With the RS heritage I don't think many will turn their noses up at it. I just hope it is as good as it looks.

Still think its a bloody hard choice between it and the STi. I reckon Ford hopefully will undercut the STi by a grand or so.

But the STi is getting old and might get a price rise when the new one comes out?

The major tick for the Focus RS is that it comes in a manual...that will win it some respect too.

Yeah the STi is a bit of a dark horse. I haven't had the privilege of driving the latest but from reports I have read, it take the WRX to the next level but compared to what else is available it is questionable. Though the price cut it had, what is it now late 40's? Makes it a good option.
For me, my money, I'd look hard the RS then others in the range. The Golf R is another one too.
