Hi guys,
Just bought a fiesta Econetic and will be collecting it in the next week or so. I'm really excited about the claimed fuel consumption. The one I've bought has 94,000kms on it and was in great condition with full ford service history. My question is: what sort of issues can these vehicles have? What servicing is recommended with them, is it best sticking with ford or going elsewhere? And also what tyres do you run on them? It had brand new tyres on it, but they're a no name brand. Any and all info would be fantastic. Cheers Howsee

We run a Maxxis tyre (from Jaxquickfit tyres) on our fiesta. It seems very good, it got tyre of the year last year (can't remember who from).
Ours hasn't had any issue other than at about 100,000km's I had to replace the driveshaft oil seal due to a very slow leak.

Thanks heaps mate. Hopefully these are half decent tyres but I won't hold my breath.
Have there been any issues with relation to the fiesta diesels?

The Econetic's fuel performance was always predicated on the multiple modifications made by the German designers & engineers in the Koln factory: advanced aero work, lightening of running gear, spare & jack deletion, lowering of the suspension, raising the ratio of the top 3 gears etc.
Nothing radical, nothing of itself too startling in its own right, but collectively very efficient & effective. Part of the overall package was the fitting of smaller, narrower low rolling resistance tyres. Michelins were the OEM choice. I concur. An excellent choice, with an ideal compromise between grip, long life, fuel savings & enough "slip" to give a lovely controllable throttle steering response. Given that there's actually so little rubber in contact with the road, anything less than the latest series 2 Michelin Eco tyres is tempting fate in my opinion. Given that they were specifically designed for the Econetic (& vice versa) why would you wish to change? Anything less might upset that lovely balance of the Econetic's chassis. |

No I haven't, I'm taking delivery of it tomorrow and will be taking it to ford next week to be checked over. What should I be looking for?

My 2009 Econetic has done 360,00 kilometres. So far the only problems I had / have is leaking fuel injector seals, blocked dpf, (I blanked off the EGR) and loss of power when hitting 3200 rpm.
