I had to do a double take then, looks like a Falcon at first glance. Infact I like some of the design features better, the boot lip, the sculpted swage line etc

Car manufacturers use shared design language in all of the cars they produce to give the instantly recognisable corporate look. With FG-X introduction Falcon was brought to this current Ford design.

That black Taurus I remember geeez it was the end of last year or earlier on this year I remember seeing that car, although the back end was covered up but I do remember seeing chinese letters on the back of the cover, pictures are on my old phone stashed away somewhere, weren't that good anyway. Not too bad looking car but, would be good if they were going to continue to build cars here but, trually does suck that its all over soon, especially for jobs that will be lost here, criminal.

The rear end on the black one looks remarkably similar to the Falcon, but the silver one looks horrible. It is to the Falcon what the Malibu is to the Commodore - looks almost the same from a distance but closer inspection reveals a dis-proportioned Camry wannabe.

Fail.

If it was front wheel drive only, no
If it was rear wheel drive and had a S/C V8 model, yes
If it was AWD with an Ecoboost V6, yes

But I do think the FG-X front is wayyyyyyy better proportioned and looks amazing on the road.

pity they didn't use the integrated exhaust outlet to replace the dodgy one on the 6cyl Falcons that appear to sag after a short period of time.

Suprisingly bad compared to the Falcon, but still classy. I could actually see this as being popular in Australia if it was badged a Falcon

The Falcon badged as a Falcon isn't popular. This would be no different.

Even the XR6 no longer has a Falcon badge.

I think the Taurus looks good.

The Mustang doesn't even sport a Ford badge anywhere, guess Ford isn't cool enough for Mustang

Ford Taurus.
Looking at the US Ford website, they have tons of good features, would be a great replacement for the Falcon.
They do some crackers in the USA too...like the SHO AWD version with the 3.5 V6 365hp ecoBoost motor.

I'm still yet to be convinced exactly why people are so dismissive of a car just because it's FWD...and no, don't go on about "towing". Virtually no one buys Falcons or Commodores to tow big vans, horse floats, or big boats...they use four wheel drives and SUV's and twin cab utes. For people who don't really care about doing burnouts or getting the tail out...ie: 99% of new car buyers...they don't know or even care which end is doing the driving.

Large US style sedans are a big status symbol in China, plus the economies of scale mean the market for these types of vehicles is big. It's just a shame they drive on the opposite side of the road to us. The Chinese middle and upper classes are all about status symbols and branding, which is why they dress so strangely - they don't seem to care if clothing fits, matches, or looks good, as long as it clear what the brand is. The car could be hideous and drive like crap, but if it's the right size, it would sell well.
