I have a group of mates like this,
We met on another forum two of us organised a garage crawl and invited a heap of others that finished at a country pub From that 4 of us became great mates, a few years later one of the guys organised a regular Friday night pizza thing and again we collected a few more. Now we have a about 8 - 10 depending on who's available I've posted heap in the out for a cruize thread http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...ghlight=Cruize

Forums are a great place to start looking for like minded people. I'm biased that the AFF is the best forum bar none, however I'm signed up to other Ford forums based in Australia.
I've met some awesome blokes and their families on the AFF. Have formed some solid mateships that I otherwise wouldn't have had without being on the forum. Yes, we talk Fords and help each other out with our cars, also life's stuff in general - we share the good and the not so good. There's members on the AFF that I've never met but would like to meet. Not all the good folk live in SE QLD. Still, we help each other. Geographically challenging Australia is. car10002, you don't have your location stated with your avatar - that would be a start. I've got Brisbane 4017 stated in mine. Doesn't give anything personal away, just lets others know my rough location, there may be others in your vicinity close to you. There's also the Events, Cruises and Get Togethers section of the AFF: http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=35 Keep an eye on the one relevant to your state/territory and consider going along to one. Doesn't matter what car you have. Crikey, I drive a factory bog standard 19 year old XH ute with other members driving +$50k awesome rides on the runs/meetups - it's not a contest. It's about common interest. For the main the vast majority of folk I've met on meetups are genuine and willing to share about their rides. Hope this advice gets you off to a good start mate. Mateships and friendships take time to build so don't expect it to all happen on your first outing. When you find a meetup that suits you - post in the relevant thread, tell a little bit about yourself and ask some questions about the meet. Cheers!
