Now that our Facon is gone, we are left with the damn Mondeo as the "large" car offer. Why dont the blue oval get serious and bring in the Taurus SHO?
3.5 litre V6 turbo, AWD. It would be a hoot.

It will be discontinued in the US in a couple years won't it? It sells in tiny numbers there.

The Taurus is a very rare sight in the US. Every second car is either an F-truck or Mustang of some description. Mondeo/Fusion is a very distant second/third in numbers. Localised Korean and Jap Junk like Camry, Optima a hell of a lot of Hyundais floating around. Once in a blue moon , you will spot a Monaro or a VE Commodore and the occasional Mitsubishi Magna tottering around in bad shape.

I think a better solution firstly is to have the Fed Government put our ADR requirements inline with US or EU regs apart from anything that is absolutely necessary from a safety viewpoint that would be a must in Australia. Can't think of anything here ...that way importers are freed up to bring in anything meeting established standards having already complied overseas. We get much greater choice, importers don' have to spend a fortune compliancing every model variation and the cost to importers is reduced enormously.

EU maybe, but US regs with the silly minimum area of indicator lights would mean the end of scrolling/sequential indicators, and we might even get flashing brake lights as indicators - amber is not a mandated colour for indicators. Oh, and those awful amber front marker lights.

Very capable car as mention in V6 Twin Turbo guise Here's a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EHeDa7mb3U&t=80s .. There is no RHD platform anyway so we'll never get it and it's also reported that the sales ,or lack there of , means a very doubtful future in the US too.. |

If they wouldn't import Falcons from Australia, there is no way in hell they would import from China.

I don't see why not, other than something like Trump sticking his nose in it. Chinese built Gen7 Taurus Interceptors will still share parts and commonality with Explorer and their Lincoln spin off's that the US will see.

Maybe a Ford FPV and Holden HSV should have pitched the Falcon and Commodore to a specialist market here too just for emergency services vehicles specifically.. I think that in the US a cop car is a cop car for a lot longer or for life ,not like here where it's pensioned off at fairly low clicks and re sold to Joe Bloggs later on. Horses for courses I expect..different countries , different ways of doing it. Cheers Rod.. |

They use Chargers (probably what you meant?), Tahoes, and Caprices too. I wonder if they will start using the next generation Expedition when it hits the streets, I think late next year.

In USA gossip circles, the current Taurus is tipped for the chopping block. However, just to confuse us, there is an all-new CD4 based Taurus which China gets but no one else does incl the USA.

Yeah I know, just hard to see some markets get specific models, especially ones that might do well here.

Some cars in Australia already have orange marker lights in the front. I like the odd car with it, but if every car had them it would lose its novelty.
Taillights as indicators is stupid. I can't see the benefit apart from having one less globe. It's weird driving around the US seeing all the regular Euros we see in Australia, but with red indicators. As for scrolling indicators, if that is what I think it is,they do that have them in the US. |

A mustang with scrolling indicators is just ****** hot. The Aus delivered ones look lame with the Orange indicators and only two out of the 3 bars lit up, giving it the appearance of a VN/VL commodore where you almost never see one with all 4 quadrants lit up properly.

And they're getting Ranger for 2018, which looking at the timeline will probably be at least an all new body.

No matter how good a car, tiny sales figures do not a profitable car make...

There's a reason F150's are sold in such ludicrous numbers over there (and it's linked to why it would never work here in profitable numbers)..."Stupidly cheap trucks"...go look at the prices on Ford, Dodge, or Chevrolets truck websites, and cry when you see what they can buy for the prices...
