Not just engines, but chassis and bodies too.

Having better brakes is the whole reason for the rumour?
Assuming America gets a V6, doesn't mean we will. |

Agreed but at least there is a glimmer of hope that Australia will get one of these amazing Ecoboost V6's that seem to have been overlooked in the Mondeo or Edge(Territory)

Can't believe EcoBoost was overlooked in development of T6 . Or was EcoBoost released after T6 had been finalised. Ranger is really lacking in the power department for those who don't want just a sensible Hilux alternative.

as "Attribute Prototypes" as part of the Ecoboost Falcon project. The 2.0 EB in Ranger was completely forgotten as places like Mexico still make do with the 2.5 NA I-4 petrol engine A 2.3 EB with the new 10-speed auto would make a nice combination in the Ranger, not too thirsty and plenty of punch on tap. |

V6 10sp. As if the current line up doesn't have enough problems already.
Ford should look at backing up their warranties first not just talk about having some kind of warranty which they have a book with all kinds of answers on how to avoid paying out. Be nice if they didn't call the engines ecoBoost either. Sounds like something a hipster from Newtown would have in their latte getter.

Ranger isn't getting a V6.
But it is getting a Twin Turbo V 8 Diesel. |

The only engine I can think of that meets this description is the Lion 4.4 V8 from the ranger rover. But even the F150 isn't getting this engine It gets the 3.0 Lion V6 from the Disco.

V8 ranger sounds like a dream.
In the US, the ranger will slot in under the F150, would make little sense to chuck a V8 in it and takeaway from the Effie sales. I would even think a ecoboost Ranger would be a stretch...

I seriously doubt there would even be a 5L V8 Ranger, let alone a V8 diesel Ranger. Even in the US market for F150, the two EcoBoost V6's outsell the V8. I could see the 2.7 EcoBoost becoming available though. It would be a rocket in the Ranger. I could also see the Lion V6 diesel happening.

A V6 sounds great and the keyboard warriors with unlimited imaginary funds will claim ford will sell tens of thousands a year. But as any fleet manager with a V6 Hilux will tell you, its running cost will be epic. May get some traction in the newly opening up primo ute category, I don't see the volume as being huge.

Still hoping some company hardens up and throws a V8 diesel in a ute we can buy here. I'm sure it will never happen though. But If someone does I'll place an order without driving it. Concidering it's reasonably priced and has all the features we expect in 20whatever. Before someone points out the LandCruiser ute, I want something that feels like it was built in the last 10 years. |

I know someone who recently "upgraded" from a 200 series to a 79 series because it's tougher. I would love a 200 series TTV8D. They seam pretty tough considering they feel civilized to drive on a daily basis. |

And remember the STX 550 Navara. That had a nice little premium on top of the normal price as well.
