hell I can (and legally) do coast to coast on a few days not three weeks but what do you expect when you can get a parcel from over seas landed faster in you capital and then for it to take over a week from customs release to the few k"s to your suburb

I don't really know if it will affect speed that much as most reputable ISPs will have enough capacity on an alternative route to allow the failure of one of their routes out of Australia.
This cut basically means that your data to and from Asia will take a little longer to arrive.

People in Perth will probably feel it the most. Their traffic will have to jump over to Sydney before leaving the country.
Fingers crossed that it's repaired quickly. :( https://www.submarinecablemap.com/#/ |

Have had an outage in my area since last Thursday, it's been on for 2 hours off for 4 etc.
For those that don't know and have this option, you can tether your mobile phone to your PC/Laptop using it as a hotspot to use your mobile data allowance to access the internet from your device. If you chose this path make sure you can check how much data you have used otherwise you could be in for a big bill (seriously ignore this post if you are unable to check your current mobile usage)$$$$ I'm with Telstra and the phone app is live. Seeing that I was getting close to my monthly limit of 3.5 gig I decided to give them a call. Boring stuff aside I managed to get an extra 10 gig added to my monthly mobile ration..... ''interim'' so they call it - didn't know you could do this ) |

Haven't noticed anything. Speeds been fairly consistent. Even with more traffic in the recent months.

Fixed. Even though there was an outage and maintenance in my area, there was an additional problem that got progressively worse, something to do with a splitter/Foxtel. I could barely understand the guy but he was running tests for over an hour, then went underground and replaced something and now connection is better than it has been for as long as I can remember. With cable I'm getting a consistent 37 Mbps.
