bar the compliance plate, i cant see much that left Broadmeadows on a genuine GT let alone a GTHO. one look at the rad support should be enough to let this one slide. i could go on suffice to say its one of the poorest things to come up for sale with a correct compliance plate and be marketed as a genuine 54H motor car.....

Interesting rust repairs on the XA GT, the boot lid along the bottom, the RR wheel arch and the firewall.
Looks like masking tape painted over with black paint. As to the XW, zoesgift might be referring to the compliance plate, I'm not convinced that it hasn't been removed and put back. Those rivets look too new compared to the plate. But if it can be documented no probs. Love the shock towers mod to lower it, never seen that before. Usually the coils were just cut or heated up and shrunk.

Hi. The coils are more than likely cut instead of the right size spring fitted and the bump stop removed as well which is why the shock mount is spaced up to stop the shock from bottoming out. Cheers MD

No not at all. Power windows were an option even on the Fairmont Ghia ESP.

There's a tidy low km XG on there that ends in 3 hours sitting at $4k.
Must be one of the last ones being a '95.

Had my eye on that grey AU II XR8 ute. Manual, 150000kms just finished for under 11k. If I was close enough to inspect it I probably would have bought it for that money.

Ph 3 made it to 595k but didn’t meet reserve.
VL Walkinshaw sold for $204,000 plus buyers premium. XW GT made 90k but didn’t meet reserve. Ph 2 made it to 95 but didn’t meet reserve. Ss Hatchback sold for $113,000 plus buyers premium XE ESP sold for $150,609 plus buyers premium of $11,300. Surely a record for an XE Falcon... Just a few highlights of tonight’s auction...

The XE ESP sale was a good number, at last people are starting to realize that with only 178 5.8s made these things are rarer than HO's and certainly much rarer than any GT of the era
.....makes you wonder how many actually still exist as rust was a problem and good ones are very thin on the ground ....these are the very last cars with Clevo 351's in them - anyone want to hazard a guess on how many still exist? |

I don’t think it was a surprise for anyone who follows these cars. There has been a couple of 6 cylinder ESP’s that went under the hammer earlier this year and both sold for near on 50k. 302 auto sold recently for about 90k so when this thing came up last week being the 5.8 4 speed, we knew it would be interesting. The days of finding a reasonable priced 351 manual XD or XE are certainly over, that’s if you can actually find one. You only have to look at gumtree classifieds occasionally and people are posting ‘wanted’ adds for a 5.8 4 speed ESP. Even had an ol mate on there recently wanting to swap an XC Cobra (admittedly it needed a little work) for an XD or XE 351 4 speed ESP. Last of the Ford Muscle Cars....
