Default Peter Brock’s blue meanie up for auction

Just seen in the news a Blue Meanie once owned by Peter Brock is going up for auction.
What’s your guesstimate? I’ll put it up around the $800K mark.

Hi guys,
If Brockie really did own it i am going to to say close to 1 million dollars.
It sounds a mad amount of money but somebody will pay it.

Default Brock's own VK Group A

VK Group A #005/500

Interesting history, I was quite surprised to see that it got 700k with a day to go..

I was thinking it would top out at 400-450, market value maybe 300k plus 100k for the Brock ownership

It's blown the highest price paid for a VK out of the water, possibly even higher than any of the VL Directors have changed hands for

Saw it on the news, back story was a family in South Perth bought it from Brock in the 90's for, I think they said 28k.
The dad has since died and the son has decided it's time to sell it.
Grays description of the paint and interior is "good", I'd say excellent or at least very good.

The letter from John Harvey to the late Ray Brown is dated Dec 1985 when the car was purchased from Brock with 20,000kms on the clock, not a bad way to have the car run in!

Agree the condition is very good to excellent, the car would be one of the only group a's to be fitted with with 4 speaker calais stereo too

I'd imagine the car would be very hard to part with after being in the family for such a long time with such a history

It’s iconic, and of unique provenance. If someone has the cojones to put up $1,2M+ now, in five years people will be congratulating them on their bargain.

Each to his own but paying $1m plus is nuts for a car Brock probably drove a couple of times like many others.

Bit odd that the blurb says build date "unable to locate" yet pic 29/31 is a plaque which says build date 5/85 and build number 2205 !!!!!

I remember that Brock had an Opel Monza that he drove around this period. I was also under the impression that he pretty much drove home in whatever had the keys in em or was close by.

Is the Bertie St forum still going? Guessing those guys would know how close Brock's association to the car was. Given the money its probably legitimately looked into, but I'd want more than a letter from Slug given HDT were in the business of selling cars.

Even if Brock himself didn't drive it all that much, build no. 005 in arguably HDT best model series, is a very special car.

makes his old Group 3 that sold for 81k in 2016 seem like a steal

https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions...F4KS78G4EWFAK/

Thinking this particular car is somewhat of an iconic car, given that it's build 005, owned by Brock and kept in pristine factory condition, yes there were other HDT vehicles that were more (in)famous like the IRS equipped VL Directors or HDT Monza

Saying all that, I'm still finding it hard to believe that more than one person is prepared to lay down a lazy mill for a VK!

All maniacs are obviously not in asylums and I wouldn't call that pristine factory condition. To each his own but i'd rather have an F Type jag and the rest in the bank thanks. These sort of cars at these prices are for museums same goes for the ESP that went north of $300k. Nuts.

I say pristine factory condition as they weren't perfect when they were new, far from it.. but this one is honest and not restored to better than new standard

For a million $$ plus I want pristine. It's honest and well used yes but most of us don't have the $1m but as I said a nice Jag or Euro and money in the bank seems a much better alternative , at least I think so.

how many of the bidders are not interested in buying, rather just tempting to see what stupid price it goes for.
There have been cases where buyer has reneged on the deal and whole process starts again.

I will admit, I have bided on things that I had no interest in, one case it was just to tick some nasty t*rd off that really wanted a lot of building materials.

Viewed nearly 60,000 times. Plenty of Peter Brock fans still.
My old man had a picture in the office, of him shaking Brocky’s hand. No pics of his kids though...

At 3 hours to go it hasn’t moved much.
Shirley if you had this much coin to splash about you’d have gone over the car in person wouldn’t you? Or is it just another cashed up investor hoping to make a dollar down the track
