Default have a few questions and needing answers and advice

hi

have a few things to sort out and needing some answers.

1. what would be a way to get your own space if youre at a age and life point where you feel its time for it to happen when the person you live with cant afford to trade up the house or youre not yet financially ready to run your own house and are waiting until you can buy and not pay as much to rent as to buy.

wondered because the house am living at only has 1 bathroom and kitchen and in the unlikely event of quarrantine theres the possibility of it being extended because you couldnt do it seperate and youre at a age and life point where you dont want to be affected or only do bare minimum because of a household member.

and in event of lockdowns youre stuck with the others for at least a week and youre just wanting privacy and your own seperate space and the house you live at isnt setup for it and theres no room to put something.

2. what would be a way to have a desk/office setup as good as a schools business manager where you can have your work setup and can actually do stuff and not have to take out files and stuff place to place and possibly loose stuff or get things out and pack up all time when the current place you live at doesnt have the space to set something up

just want to be able to have a office with a desk and stuff and be able to do things and not have to get things out and pack stuff up all time.

if you had a tiny house or your own space you may just be able to sort of fit something in, it however would be better if you were able to lay out stuff and know where you are upto and not have to set things up and pack up all time and mess things up.

3. if youre at a age and life point where you feel its time for your own space what could you do to make it happen when youre not yet financially ready to run your own house and are waiting until you can buy, what options is there that doesnt have to close every time theres restrictions or lockdowns which could happen at anytime that doesnt cost too much.

one of the household members works at a supermarket and every second weekend she has 5am starts and sometimes 6am starts and its starting to affect me in a way because unless you got your own space or had a second bathroom and kitchen you cant always do what you normally do.

what part time space options is there that doesnt have to close every time theres restrictions or lockdowns which could happen at anytime and doesnt cost much.

am mostly happy where am living just want to intime get own space and waiting until am able to buy.

4. with hospitallity industry why is it that so many people seem to leave the industry altogether at the moment.

can think of following

a. when the industry got shut and had restrictions some workers had to find tempory work and found they could work less for the same or more money and not work as hard.

b. a industry thats already known for short breaks and hard work and non standard hours has been made harder with people holidaying home.

c. some people have probably done it over 10 years and had enough and the lockdowns have probably gave them the time to make the change they probably were thinking of for a while.

d. the lockdowns probably made people re think their work and they realised they no longer wish to do hospitality as its not easy work and also short staff and burnout could have a bit to do as well.

5. as am planning to get out hospitality in 5 years no more what would be the most professional way to explain how you feel and ask them if you can cut out hospitality and concentrate on the secondhand side if current owner is still there and doing it as the place that am working at also sells secondhand stuff.

would prefer to do something for yourself but its a option that am thinking of.

am planning a way out now as itll probably take 5 years to come up with something and wont last longer than that.

the hospitality industry has gotten so much harder with people holidaying home and am tired (not physically but in other ways) and want to get out altogether and if it wasnt for the current owners then would have done it a long time ago.

also am tired of the non standard hours and am planning to be self employed or cut out the hospitality side and just concentrate on secondhand in 5 years where youll only have to work standard hours or close to it.

would it be a good idea to start planning now even though you dont have to do anything now.

6. know a person whos self employed and has bought a workshop and wondered wether the governmet is giving money out for people who are starting small business because he was able to get it so quick at 22 years old and do also know his old boss owed him alot of money in unpaid wages.

can put it down to either his old boss having owed alot of money or the govenment giving money to start business or the automotive industry paying more than hospitality to be able to come up with a deposit to get a loan.

7. with your job what is a professional way to ask for time off if you just need a break if the place is so short staffed with no one to cover for people when they have a break and what is a way to get standard annual leave and how do you afford the time off and to loose that money if you dont get standard paid annual leave

8. how much would you need to earn to cover bills and to have some money left for things as while it is possible on a pension theres nothing left after covering your bills

if anyones got answers could they reply here.

thanks

does anyone know if governments are giving money away for people to start small business because know someone who is only 22 that only started a business 12 months ago from scratch and he already was able to buy a workshop with granny flat

he probably had to get a loan and would have just came up with the deposit and can only think of the following ways he may have gotten the money for a deposit

1. the automotive industry might bring more money than hospitallity and he might have already made so much from jobs

2. the government may have given people money to start a business

3. did hear his old boss owed him alot of money in unpaid wages dont know how true it is but did hear somewhere

stop procrastinating and do it... simple as that.

I had 15 years in hospitality in the uk. Woke up one Tuesday morning in Feb and decided to stop wallowing and do something about it. September of the same year I was on a plane with a one way ticket to Australia.

get out there and do stuff instead of worrying about what house mates are doing...

1) Rent the smallest dwelling you can – Granny flat, Studio, 1br unit.
2) Just get a corner desk with a shelving unit. If you set it up well you would be surprised how much space is available. The key is to keep the desk clean and clear of clutter.
3) Refer to point 1.
4) We live in a disposable society – this includes work.
5) Start planning your ‘way out’ while you are still working. Income is income and something is better than nothing. What if you don’t like what you are moving to?
6) Not sure. There are always apprentice grants and programs to offer help with employment. A scan of the internet will help you learn what is on offer but I think they will need to be accessed by your employer or with their help.
7) Find staff to cover you, work casually, ask boss when is a quiet time you can take leave.
8) Only you know that. Biggest burden on a pensioner is rent. Get your living situation sorted by retirement (own a place outright or live somewhere rent free) then the rest is play money.
