Will be interesting once the new model Ranger and Everest hit the market. Can't come soon enough for some though.
Funny result for Tesla given no one wants EVs... According to many here. Rather inconvenient Truth there. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

PS I think we all know car sales figures are all askew atm. Hilux double Ranger which is down in 5th isn't the norm

Even so... 3k units is what Ranger was moving in 2019-2020. It's a significant result. Arguably, 2021 sales for Ranger were an aberration as people went 'lifestyle crazy'. I'd be surprised if Ranger moves 4k/mth consistently once the new model novelty dies down, same happened to Mustang.

3k per month is frankly astounding for a nation that 'doesnt have a use case for EV's'. I guess that means the Ranger was a crap performer before 2021? |

I literally called out in the first sentence that numbers will be better once the new Ranger and Everest hit the market. Lessons from history. Falcon was killing it in the B series. Fuel prices went up. People stopped buying them. EcoLPi and Ecoboost came but way too late. Even after the price of fuel dropped, people had moved on. Fuel prices have gone up... Ford have a product that only appeals to those who are tax minimizing... Great opportunity to be first here. No reasonably priced EV SUV or dual cab outside of MG for SUV. Once the model Y hits the market, you might as well give up that segment. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

People didn't stop buying Falcons due to Petrol prices. Ranger appeals to more than those who are tax minimizing but none of this is what I asked.

Why can't we talk EVs when there is one in the Vfacts. Would you rather talk about the boring Hilux or the others vanilla cars make it into the top. The Ford result is hamstrung by supply but they could "Go Further" ahead of the competition with EVs IMO. Model Y books open in the next few weeks. Let's see if Ford missed the party with the Mach E locally. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

Tesla being officially on the board with 3067 is massive, great result for them.
And - a sedan back in the top 10 - who would've ever thought?! Quote:
I do wonder what the sales of these things would be without the tax writeoffs...

Yeah, I wonder about that. This is going to be a huge shift, and if someone else comes in and steals that segment, no matter how new the brand, I don't think decades of history will amount to much. Huge changes ahead. There might be a bit of this with Jag just going full electric within a couple of years - launch early and hope to be around afterward.

Not really. We are a tiny market for them. They sold 300,000 plus cars in Q1 and 4000 odd in Australia. We don't get a steady supply because most of the production is skewed to the Chinese market. They do our orders in batches so some months will have multiple ships arrive and others will only have 1 ship arrive.
If we were LHD, it might've been better but can't beat Chinese demand. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

No its not, think about it
This is not sales, its two ships arriving in the same month and delivering already sold cars to buyers. Tesla is up to nine months wait on vehicles, they need to start ramping up deliveries and start offering the Y, that would really get sales going .. By my estimate, Tesla sales have increased 50% this year and thats only with the 3. A second gigafactory is being built in China to produce the Y, maybe 12 months away.. |

No MG this month in the top 10 and Tesla suddenly in the top 10 taking 5th position with the Model 3 - well paint me black and call me Kunta Kinte.

I understand this is the first time Tesla have reported and there may be some prior months results as catch up for the year.

Semi-conductor shortages hitting Thai production fairly hard. It had to catch up to them at some point. Going to be an on going thing for the first half of the year. Opens right up in the 2nd half.
Order books are full, just can't get the cars built. |

Sales and orders aren't off, the order backlog is getting longer. It's supply that is the problem now.
Why are people suddenly suggesting that demand has dropped. If anything, the new model, which has just gone into production, has increased demand. Won't be till the second half that it picks back up. |

Got the job of looking at cars for my Auntie, changeover time for her. She's a nun & the order changes over their cars at 90,000kms. She currently drives a Corolla, she's not keen on a Yaris. We suggested a Kia Stonic. Local Kia dealer had a couple available for May delivery (this was a few weeks back). Went to the Toyota dealer to check out a Yaris Cross for comparison. Nothing in the passenger range on show, only Hiluxes or Cruisers on show. Was told 6-12 month wait for anything in the Yaris/Corolla/Camry ranges. Checked out the Ford Puma, nice but a little more than what the budget allowed. But no issues with availability from Ford. A friend has just signed a contract for a Kia Seltos. Was told she'll be lucky if she gets it this side of Christmas. Interesting times..
With brands such as Jag going fully EV, don't be suprised if all the Euro brands go full EV, or at least EV/hybrid in the next couple of years, with the push to wean Europe off Russian oil. |

The Tesla number of 3097 would appear an aberration, compared to 4417 YTD and 12k-odd all last year.

My local Mitsi dealer said "its only a month, wait for Pajero Sport. 3 coming in May." and apparently, Nissan has caught up with Patrol orders? Who knows what the real story is on shortage.

Maybe its like my situation. Ordered 2 containers of material for start of Feb and mid March back in Dec21. Got nothing in Feb and nothing was coming in March according to supplier and then both containers arrive late March stuffing up our storage space.
