Hi all,
Not sure how many of you appreciate a good Hypercar, but for me a McLaren P1 is one of my favorites. I've started watching a YouTube channel recently with some interesting builds, but this one I'm really interested in. This P1 was drowned late last year in the Florida floods. It's been purchased and an attempt to revive it is under way. https://youtu.be/rJNqj_QNkWM Hope it turns out for the best as no car deserves to become scrap with only 300 miles on the clock!

If anyone will get it done Tavarish will... Really enjoy watching his stuff... His McLaren 675LT he rebuilt from what was a salvage title after a large accident is another one...
He also does a Top Gear type thing called Cartrek with 2 other Youtubers which is worth a look...

I'm not seeing what the fuss is about, beyond the cost for the car. It's carbon, so most of the damage is likely to be restricted to electrics. There's no structural damage, which is what would rule out a repair.
And while I loved the P1 when it came out, it's probably a sign of the times, but I'd completely forgotten about it. So many hypercars have come out over the last few years, few seem to have been particularly memorable. |

For me the P1 stands head and shoulders above most of the new Hypercars. It was fairly cutting edge compared to it's then competition. It also is considered by many to be the spiritual successor to the iconic McLaren F1. Which is regarded as one of the ultimate cars of all time. Sure I do love the Ferrari, Porsche, Koenigsegg, Pagani and the McLaren Senna but they just lack something... What that is I can't explain, maybe it's the look, the tech, the power, the marketing dept, I dunno. I'm looking forward to see if they can pull this one off.

Given the size of his online following, I suspect McLaren could be pressured into providing access to parts, and I'd be surprised if he didn't reach out to them ahead of the purchase. $575k is a lot to spend if it falls over because he cant get one obscure part.

I don't know one McLaren from the next one, but US$575 is a lot of money for a trashed car.
Carsales currently has 82 McLarens for sale in Australia, some for a lot less than that, if you have a piggy bank big enough, and want something to impress the neighbours. |

Don't know yet. They've really only showed them pulling off the undertray and the rear cover. They did tease a bit of work on the engine but nothing of the damage other than flood and external panel damage.
Hopefully we'll get more details if the damage soon
