Unhappy No spark on lead number 4.

Hey guys,

lost almost all spark comming from lead no.4, does spark a tiny bit but spark only jumps about 2mm when testing, and isnt firing the cylinder.

All other leads are sparking fine, have swapped leads and sparkies and ive narrowed it down to the dizzy not throwing sufficient spark to No.4.

Any of you champs got any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

are you sure you are in the right section? what car do you have? the AU doesn't have a dizzy they have a coil pac. if you do have a coil pac in an AU you problem sounds like a faulty coil pac as you have ruled out faulty leads

Yes I'm in the right section, car is a falcon au.

Ok fair enough, my mistake, it looks like a dizzy from above with the leads going in, but now inspecting from below I now see its different. So this is a coil pack hey?

Is there anything else it could be besides the coil pack? Or will a new coil pack solve this issue for sure?

Thanks.

when a coil pack starts failing it is usually 3 or 4 that will go first. new coil pack will solve the problem.

The au has a wasted spark ignition system. It fires 2 cylinders at the same time. I am not sure which other cylinder fires at the same time but they do so in pairs.
For example if 4 and 1 plug fire as a pair the spark flows to ground via one plug and via the other paired plug at the same time.
If you change the coil pack and it doesn't fix, also check the fuel injector on that cylinder as well. The ecu can cut the spark to that cylinder if the injector goes bad.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice guys, a new coil pack fixed the problem with the spark to No. 4, Engine seems to be running smooth and fine now but.......

Car still seems to be shaking like there is a balancing problem???
