Default What is the "fastest" car you have ever driven?

After deciding whether it was the sensation of speed or power that was more important, I decided that speed wins. No point having 800kW if it's wrapped in 5 tons of something, is there? Acceleration that blurs your brain is what we're after here, and if you drove a Lamborghini Murcielago from one side of the road to the other, it doesn't count. You need to have booted it and perhaps got a little bit frightened... :hihi:

(no motorcycles either!)

My top 3:

Mercedes-Benz 600SEL, just out of Frankfurt on the autobahn - the way it piled it on from the slip-road was just surreal. Wasn't really scared until I realised just how fast we were going...

Toyota Levin coupe*, a back-road in Norfolk - my first experience of a rev limiter and I was howling with delight at its short gearing and rapsy engine note...

Caterham Super 7 2000 HPC, another back-road in Norfolk - actually hurt my kidneys and made me scream. What's worse is that I know that there are faster versions. Totally insane, and I will always want one...

* I still don't know what it was... some sort of early 1990s 2-door Corolla import, 1.8 four-pot, supercharged, tuned on top of that and mighty quick!

My current car is the quickest.

I prefer acceleration. Thrown into your seat stuff.

High speed is good but would get boring.

I'm Only 19 so i havent been round all that much really, however at my tender age, the fastest thing i've Driven (Apart from moving a Ferrari (My uncles 308 GTS Targa) lol and a couple of Porsches) Is a Nizpro stage 4 BA XR6T ute. Thing has about 400kW at the engine and some ridiculous amount at the wheels as well.

God almighty, I havent felt that sort of acceleration since I was a passenger in a Boosted 91' model 911 Turbo. It was unbeleivable.

That XR6 is in the shop as we speak getting the upgraded 6 speed gearbox and clutch, along with more boost, new cooler and a rebuild and stand alone ECU and he tells me that he'll let me try it out once its baaaaack!!!

Cant bloody wait.....

Fastest car ive driven is my bros VH commy. 202 i6 (plenty of engine work not quite sure what done) had plenty of balls behind it. Supra 5sd was a bitch though. Pretty good car although nothing anywhere near as good as what youve been in.

Fastest car ive been in is a 1993 TT 300ZX (Up at Unique Auto Sports getting more upgraded hehehe). ****n flew.

Keen to drive a Mclaren but hey thats a dream.

My car I guess. Pretty boring really. But soon it will have 350rwkw (hopefully)

My second fastest was my old turbo EB.

3rd My 351 XF.

4th My mates R33.

I have crappy connections when it comes to fast cars.

well, the fastest would have to be

1: vr auto- 355 stroker - insane pulling power
2: Mates really riced up 01-02(??) WRX, it was a different sort of acceleration, not smooth like the stroker
3: Other than that theres nothing, standard auto xr6t

I havent been in any freak cars, so I cant brag...

Unfortunately its my car. Hehehe, love my 4 cyl mates who say the same thing when they drive it - its hard trying to explain it's pretty lame for a blown v8.

Fastest car ive ever been in was an Rx2 capella... scary little cars....

C.O.M.E Stroker in a HZ 1 tonner... 11.10 1/4 and it was a monster.
My old XE 13.5 1/4...

On the street a customers TT"Z" felt incredibly fast and stable but imo it is more the way you sit in the thing, it messes with your senses.

How about posting the speeds you've experienced in these cars.

I've owned a lot of muscle V8's but the fastes car I've owned was a 2L Starion which did over 260km/h

The Merc got to 220km/h before I realised that I should perhaps slow down a bit. Not sure about the Levin, as the speedo only went up to 180km/h... it went a little bit faster than that, but not much - got there very quickly though. The Caterham, I have NO idea - I was looking at the road. I reckon I got to about 80mph or so from a rolling start of about 10mph - certainly not a high speed, but that was enough!

Hmm in my bros VH commy only done about 80km/h due to the fact that it was hard to drive and its a brick so would handle shit at fast speeds anyways.

In the TT 300ZX bout 210-220km/h speedo goes to 180km/h but it was more of a get a feel of the car not try and break a speed record. The owner has done about 270km/h estimate. Handling kicked *** it felt like we were doin maybe 120km/h handling wise.

Same here.

I guess after that would have been dad's 911 Carrera, it was red so it went faster than other Porches. :P

My Aunties MR2, I don't know what the top speed in it was, I never pushed it too hard, but damn that was a fast and fun little car to drive.

Damn my family for being a bunch of car lovers, I never stood a chance with one side being English and the other being German.

A TF Cortina that my brother had years ago with a worked 250 that had balls from idle to redline. The poor little corty' had stress cracks all over it after a couple of years.

The highest speed I've ever driven a car was about 225-230 hittting the rev limiter in a 5sp auto Magna Sports.

No speeds at all, it's just not a good idea to discuss them.

Fastest I've been in a car (passenger though) would be 220 - 240km/h (somewhere in that vicinity) in my uncle's old R33 GTS25t. The speedo only went to 180km/h, but the needle went all the way past 180, to the point where it was pointing straight down.

Also been to 200km/h in his Ferrari F355 Berlinetta. My God that thing sounds nice at 8000rpm.

Fastest I've been driving myself? 120km/h in the van.. hahahaha
