Default Leaded!!

hi all was just wanting to find out about leaded veichles..
how do u feed a leaded car??
where do u get what you need?
how much would it cost to change to unleaded?,etc?
any info on leaded cars.. thanks pplz

I have an XC Clevo 12:5.1 that runs on unleaded. All i did was change from AV-Gas to BP ultimate was run an octanboster plus 5 degress more timing. I have had no problems at all the octanboster has an upper cly lube in it so no problems with valve retension.

sorry mate im not a techincal wiz, so where do i get octane booster from?? do u mix it with the petrol urself?

Owning a car that needs leaded fuel...
Its the Valve seats that the unleaded destroys, as the bronze / copper seats can't handle the harsher burning from the fuel.
The lead does line the seats to protect them.


So:
Fill up with premium.

The unleaded has a lower octane rataing that leaded.
Premium stops it pinging its ringer our under revs....
Does the motor better and all that.

Then use an additive. I highly recommend Valvemaster.
Can buy it from any servo, and auto store (repco etc etc).
Get the 250ml bottle and add 1 mil per litre of fuel.
Easy as.

If you want a more permanenet solution,
plug in a fuelstar. It sits on the fuel line before the carby, and adds the necesary additives to protect the valve seats.
Also gives more power and helps engine longetivity / wear. Works a treat, have used myself.

If you don't want to bother with either of these, take the heads of the motor off, and get the heads done (valves, seats, guides etc etc).

thanks mate..
when you add the additive do u just fill up the tank with the premium and then pour how many mills needed in to the tank aswell? or do you have to mix it in a container first??

also how much does fuelstar cost to purchase and install??

I do it after i have filled up.
it mixes through so doesn't matter.
Have used valvemaster for the past 50000km's in my car, and its yet to shwo any engine troubles.....

As for the fuelstar, um, it will depend on enginve capacity.
So what donk do you have.

but anywhere between 400-600.
But the fuelstar will give you more power and is maintenance free!!! : :evilsasmo

As mentioned, use premium fuel if the vehicle is an Australian Ford. Standard unleaded should be fine for Japanese Fords (Laser, etc).

Add this to the fuel tank Flashlube Valve Saver Fluid before toping up with fuel.
Or install one of these FVSK - Flashlube Valve Saver Kit

I've had the Valve Saver Kit on my XC 4.1 ute for 6 years now and the engine is still going strong on a mix of Premium & Standard (whatever I feel like at fill up time) for the last 3 years.

By the way, my dad bought the ute new in 1977 and the head has never been off, from new he changed the engine oil every 5000km & filter every 10000km. The rocker cover has been off to replace the valve stem seals when 2 years old.
