Hey Drew

Nice pictures.

But I am confused…. how does taking the back seat out of your car make it into a manual? : : :

Cute puppy too!

Cheers, Tori

OMG Drew

I think you should just ring your insurance company and tell them that someone trashed your car and get a pay out.

For Goodness sakes put it back together quickly and if you do have any "extras" just throw them out quick smart so nobody will ever know. :monkes:

PS Remind me never to leave you alone with my car...:(:P

Cheers, Tori

Drew, your car exploded mate!

Definately sounds like you have ideas of doing something sexual with Tori's car, not sure if that is legal either!

Let’s face it – you have extraordinarily good taste, and your right my car is damn sexy!

I don’t think you need help, but maybe, just maybe you are becoming a little stalker-ish about your love for my car – you don’t want to scare her off now.:

these 3 nuts are the only reason the dash has to come out (could of killed them)

add weld here and here......

Put steering rack and box back in and *boom* magic all done (minus the 3000 screws left over and all the trims in the boot)

Default Horay!!!

Its driveable but im still not finished. the ECU is still confused if its still a Auto with it idleing at 1100 and sometimes ventureing down to where is should be. that will sort its self out over the next few driveing hours.

while the car is a mess ill put in some new speakers and re trim the door inserts get a sexy gear knob and a custom boot.
also a Ipod addaptor to plug into the Pioneer Stereo.

let the good times roll :eclipsee_

I thought that the ecu's couldn't learn if you changed the box...1 ecu for auto and another for manual, as a general rule however, am am often wrong, or so the missus tells me,but I could be mistaken there as well.

While the dash is out, change the fan blades. My e-Series had this go on me twice. ford charged heaps cause the dash had to come out. Should do that while you have the dash out.

I'm not really sure exactley what it is that kept breaking, but when the fan came on, it sounded like leaves were caught in the fan.

Default Where ?

I know the blades are on the left hand side there some where.... might just take it into ford and undo the 4 bolts holding it in and get them to do it.

Regards the manual vs auto Ecu.
to make it work we had to do some basic wireing to make the reverse lights work (around the old auto loom) also earth out the starter relay (to make the car start)

also its idleing high and the thermos are going nuts becuse the ECU/Auto computer isnt recieving a signal so it thinks its over heating. that will be overcome by a few resistors to tell the ecu its all good mate. also we have to trick it to say its in PARK or NEUTRAL.

BRING ON WILLOWBANK!!!!! AND MORGAN PARK!!! :

Default phew!!

Well its back together (98%)

I took the time to buy some new Kevlar Speakers to fit in the front doors and the back tray. So much more mid and crisper top!

So in went the new gear boot and knob and well as my new inserts! I had a quote on the same job at about $600..... : so i went to coastal foam and rubber and picked up 1m x 1.8 marine leather grain ($13.90) and trimed it myself.

Just have to find another place to run the amp kit (it was through the clutch cable hole)

Just cant wait to get that 1000watt RMS digital amp to pump the 4 12" subs !!!

the business part

I had fun at Indy

Behind the cruise control module there is a big rubber grommet that some of the engine loom wiring runs into the cabin, behind the fuse box. If you take the cruise module out you will be able to see it on the firewall.

I poked a couple of holes into this grommet and ran my amp cables through this after I put the manual in. Had the same problem that the only other hole in the engine way was now being used for a clutch cable.

Otherwise, congrats on a big job. Looks like its all come together well. :1syellow1

Default Update

UPDATE.
I have made the ECU think that the Auto is still there are that it is DRIVE! by fitting a 25kohm linea pot and also told it that the temp of the auto was "Fine" by fitting a 4.5kOHM resistor. (this stopped the thermo fans going flat out the whole time the car was on)

Parts total..........$1.80!!!!!

Now it idles fine and is a bit easier to drive in traffic.

The Project is comming together rather well, however i just got a ipod addaptor to fit my Pioneer head unit so 4gig of music at the touch of my hand!

oh yeah i have a secret of the next thing im doing........but thats a different story.

Enjoy
